Our family has loved living in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina for over 20 years. I've served as a university chaplain and a pastor. Presently I'm a chaplain at a nearby state prison. My wife is a voice teacher and has taught at a number of colleges. Our children have grown. All of us are musicians and love to play and sing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Good friend Tim Ross has been Couchsurfing for over ten years and has been urging me to get in on this good thing. I'm finally heeding his wise advice. I'm fascinated with people, with how lives unfold, and with the adventures and journeys people are on. There's a verse from my faith tradition that says, "Don't neglect to show hospitality, for by doing this some have welcomed angels as guests without knowing it."

Helped make it possible for an inmate to build custom cabinets for a Habitat house.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm easygoing. I love a conversation, but can be as quiet as a host would prefer. I almost always have my acoustic guitar with me and am always ready for some picking and singing.
