About Me

"In order to write adventures, you must have one first."

As I approach the end of my 20's I have taken a step back and looked over the past ten years. My failures. my triumphs, and my personal sense of purpose of it all. The more I educate myself on the human condition, the more I realize that to get the most out of life, you must go out and live it. You must love one another, and you must view humanity as holistically as you can.

I've had my rough and tumble days as a struggling comic artist, and eventually I found mild success before eventually tapering out from online existence. There is just something so... Disconnected about online friendships and relationships. I want to go out into the world and experience authentic friendships, learn about new people, and continuously strive to satisfy my never-ending curiosity.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on CouchSurfing because I don't want to live an unobserved life.
I don't want to settle, or be chained down. I want to live a life worth looking back on proudly and without regrets.

I want to fill my life with experiences, people, places, and everything else I can before I turn old and gray and can't do it anymore.

I want to taste foods I've never heard of, draw things world's away from home, and experience all the different people of the world and their stories.

And of course, I'm more than happy to share my experiences with you!

Interests

As a kid, I was enraptured by anime and manga. It instilled in me a love of adventure and action.
As I've grown, I've dedicated myself not only to comics and cartoons, but to the study of how they work, what makes a graphic novel more enjoyable to others, and how do they affect our culture?
What makes the image come alive on the page? How is it that these abstract markings on paper can have an effect on people's emotions? It's all so fascinating to me!

I want to make comics, but first I must have a story to tell.

Music, Movies, and Books

My music tastes are as perennial as the grass. Right now I like:
- Jack Stauber
- Rare Americans
- Cosmo Sheldrake
- Tally Hall
- Tame Impala

I'm a big fan of Studio Ghibli films and the works of Satoshi Kon. Animation is an art form from which we convey important messages. As for books, I'm more of an audiobooks guy, but I am particularly interested in the works of Frederick Nietzsche and Jean-Paul Satre.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I first started using CouchSurfing.com, it was to find a place to stay with little time to find it. I was moving to NYC and my apartment wouldn't be available for another week or two.
I had less than two days to find a place or face homelessness in NYC. I was fortunate enough to find someone at the last minute. However, there was a slight catch; they were nudists. And so, during my first week of living in NYC, by day I was working my small time job looking for new opportunities, and by night, I did as the Romans do and was clad in nothing but what I came out with.

It was a fun and unique experience and just one of many I hope to have in this amazing adventure I call my life!

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a comic theorist, someone who delves into the science and art of making a comic. From the panels to the dialogue, to how different ways the art is presented can entirely change the content within.

I am also a storyteller, I write and illustrate adventures.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As a comic artist, I'm a natural storyteller and love to share my experiences with others.
I'm a young man with big goals and even bigger dreams. I left home with nothing but the shirt on my back and my sketchbook in my hands, and through grit, tenacity, and sheer determination, I have molded my destiny to be more than what I was. I have determined that the circumstances of my birth are irrelevant, and it is what we do with the gift of life that determines who we are.

If you're interested in hearing my stories, I'm happy to share!
