About Me

We are travelling this year together to explore humanity. Our journey is centred around looking to see people, and sincerely connect with the human in all of us. We are seeking a middle path of comfort and discomfort.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The most valuable and important ability we have is to connect with humans and life altogether. We believe Couchsurfing represents the coming together of humanity with so many opportunities to learn. Travelling to meet with people enables you to learn about language, food, culture, religion, traditions. In essence: ways of Living and Being

Music, Movies, and Books

Jim:
Oliver Mtukukudzi, a legendary Zimbabwean artist. Genre wise, new wave 80s music. Specifically New Order and the Police. Hans Zimmer, Mark Eliyahu, Alim Qasimov, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan

Hands down, the greatest movies are The Matrix, Fight Club (I won't talk more about it), and 7 years in Tibet. Always in for some movie analyses and discussions.
The best books I have read are: Can't hurt me - David Goggins, Extreme ownership - Jocko Willink, 12 Rules for life - Jordan Peterson, and Eastern Horizons - Levison Wood.

Joosje:
Music preferences stretch far and wide, from Indie, and Classical, to Tuareg and Italian pop from the 70s, long as it has a soul. Artists I keep coming back to are The War on Drugs, Faramarz Aslani, Afous d’Afous, and the Arctic Monkeys. Always keen on getting music tips!! Love to hear more about a person’s favourite songs.

I love to read, talk about books and listen to stories. One book that continues to intrigue me and that has changed me in many ways is Richard Powers’ The Overstory

We share a love for artists like Imarhan, Fairuz, Bombino and Paul Simon, for literature, obviously The Alchemist by Paul Coelho, and movies such as Good Will Hunting, and Contact (1997).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Submit to the unknown by embracing suffering. You’d be surprised how resilient we can become. Let’s share some stories about our amazing lives…

Teach, Learn, Share

Share the beauty of music and sports as the two most global languages.

We are keen to learning about your approach to life (religion, philosophies, mindset) as well as the lessons you’ve learned so far.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Two smiles, and souls willing to learn.
