About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Meet people and visit places I don't already know. I want to experience more of the world. At the moment, Central Europe - July 2013. Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary, Belgium, the Netherlands. Whatever fits in a month.
ABOUT ME
I'm experiencing some combination of existential crisis and wanderlust. The past few years, after spending most of my life in the Midwest, I've gotten super into traveling.
This fall, I'll be touring the South and taking in an entire season of SEC football, with a book on fan culture and identity/travel narrative to follow the experience.
Love meeting new people and I believe that the world around us is a fundamentally good place with kind and compassionate people who have interesting stories to tell.
PHILOSOPHY
If you don't have anything nice to say, it'd better be funny.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Summitting Rucu Pichincha (Quito, Ecuador) in 2010. This was remarkable if only for the fact that I'd never hiked at any point in my life before that day. Altitude sickness was BRUTAL.
Seeing Humpback whales about 100 yards from our boat off Isla de la Plata was pretty incredible, too.
Walking around Hagia Sofia & marching with protesters in Tacsim Square last Summer in Istanbul.
Walking tours in Munich and Berlin
Bungee jumping in Interlaken, Switzerland (which left two small scars on my left shin)
Working on a house in New Orleans a couple weeks ago was one of the better weeks of my entire life. Getting to be of service and being surrounded by amazing people was a great reminder that self-esteem comes from estimable actions.
