About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Prepare a trip

ABOUT ME

We're a friendly pair, always up for meeting new people, and interested in the world.

PHILOSOPHY

"rien ne sert de donner des années à la vie si l'on ne donne pas de la vie aux années..."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

First of all, we'r looking forward to welcoming people in our little flat, and travelling via these 'rencontres' without even having to leave our doorstep! Secondly, we'r hoping to use CS during our next trip, to be able to have real contact with the 'locals' and more than just a superficial snapshot !

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

No experience yet, although Esme has travelled and hosted with Servas, an organization with a similar spirit.

Interests

We share a love of music and are both learning the accordion...but don't expect any private concerts any time soon (maybe in a year or so)! We also love travelling, sometimes in our little van, but we'r now considering exchanging the van for a couple of bikes (inspired by our cycling gurus Nico et Rosie!). Jim's also into kite surfing, and everything related to wood (construction, wood turning...), Esme's into more arty things...(exhibitions, theatre, photography, drawing, knitting occasionally). We've done a bit of rock climbing, and would like to do more! Also interested in environmental and social issues.

Music, Movies, and Books

Jim: right, if i had to choose one for each category, i would say "Liberté, by Tony Gatlif" for the film, "Ouvert à double tour, de la Rue Kétanou" for the music and "The curious incident of the dog in the night time, by Mark Haddon" for the book!
Esme: hmm, never good at choosing favourites, but I loved Fatih Akin's 'The Edge of Heaven', and i'm reading a great book at the moment by Indra Sinha 'Animal's people'. Too much music to choose from, but we're fans of the festival 'Du bout du monde'!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Jim: diving into the baltic sea at midnight only to discover that it was 20cm deep!

Teach, Learn, Share

music, food, language, sharing good moments and interesting chats over a pint and 'refaire le monde'!
