ABOUT ME

Hi Couchsurfing! My name is James Andrew Gatsby. Recently I indulged my free spirit and hit the road from my long-time home in Texas in search of a new home that shines as much of a positive light as I try to radiate in my own life. I couldn't say I was completely prepared body and soul for this adventure, and I can say that reflecting on the hard times that have accompanied it, but I endeavor every moment to keep moving my life forward on the path to enlightenment. I study Buddhism, chant and mediate everyday. I'm an artist of many varieties, an entrepreneur and adventurer in my own way (:

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe money is one of the most terribly destructive substances that has driven humanity away from the one love and understanding that united our country and the world. I chose to separate from the materialistic and comfortable life I once had in search of new understanding and hit the road. I believe Couchsurfing embodies that one love, that no man was meant to be an island and we cant do this alone, and we will only unify with love and understanding for the "strangers" all around us. Sonder is the word that comes to mind, and I consider it everyday and believe im not the only one.

Interests

Longboarding, downhill races, lots of artsy fartsy stuff. Photography, music and I love singing. My study of Nichiren Buddhism, mediatation, natural healing methods and western medicine. I love volunteering, being of service to others, and expanding my mind.

Music, Movies, and Books

I pretty much listen to a little bit of everything except new age country. Two movies I never get sick of watching are A Knight's Tale and Disney/Pixar's The Incredibles. Ian Flemming's James Bond was my role model growing up, I love every book, movie, and actor.

Dangled my feet over the grand Canyon as I sketched the landscape; one of my favorite memories.

Teach, Learn, Share

I always love sharing my experience, am always open to learn and acquire more experience to share, and give and share freely of what little I have. I believe Karma is VERY REAL. I do what I can.

What I Can Share with Hosts

What skills I can offer are interior/exterior design/construction, decorative art, tattoo art, work trade and any labor two hands can do. I have 3D drafting and design certifications as well, Im an OCD cleanlyman and will help clean anything.
