About Me

CURRENT MISSION

spend time exploring outside the US cultural box

ABOUT ME

Married 25 years, 4 kids, 11 grandkids; was a tennis pro, built/owned my own club- all that in Jacksonville, Fl. Divorced, moved to Asheville, NC in '92 just in time for the blizzard of '93. Bought and operated Invisible Fence business till I sold to my eldest daughter and her husband in 2000. Bought a house on 2 acres with creek in the front yard in 2002, married again in 2005. Used to manage our local weekly tailgate market of about 20 vendors. I have 2 acres on a creek, chickens, a greenhouse, 9 raised beds and a dozen blueberry bushes. We heat with wood that we cut from the property (locust) and rent out 2 rooms and a bath to a housemate. Together we have 2 dogs and 2 cats. My wife, Laura, has a net-based counselling business (see beat-depression-naturally.com)
PHILOSOPHY

improve each day; do the hard 20% first; initiate contact with family and friends- tell them (better, show them) you love them; "clean the garage"; floss; be frugal, but not cheap; live simply; be grateful; chop wood and carry water; appreciate; listen to spirit; honor the Golden Rule; be ok with not knowing; live what is, now; get opinions from both left and right brain; make friends with old souls, people who are funny, outrageous and smarter than you (my wife qualifies on all counts). Schedule important stuff.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The Tattoo atop the Edinburgh Castle; watching fighter jets land on a carrier while we were alongside in a replenishment operation in VietNam.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you (and 2 others plus me) to sing a four part harmony tag (the short tail-end part of a song) by rote. I can teach you how to play tennis. I'd like to learn more about how to travel light and inexpensively. I'd like to share stories about places you and I have been and things you and I have done.

Countries I’ve Visited

China, France, Germany, Jamaica, Japan, Mexico, Nicaragua, Philippines, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Spain, United Kingdom, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
