About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To become one with my surroundings

ABOUT ME

I'm currently studying International Agriculture at Hadlow College. I'm quite an easy going, mature and adaptable person. I seem to be a man of extremes, These Libran scales tip often. I play the guitar, like diving, walking, meeting people and nature. That said I like learning about pretty much everything, I have a long list of interests to pursue. I like meeting people and hearing their stories, how they grew up, interests, occupations, hopes and dreams, general outlook of life. I think the world is an amazing place full of beautiful people. I find it's beauty and variety fascinating, variety is the spice of life. I always wanted to travel, I can't tell you why, curiousity I suppose, I just wanted to see what was over the horizon. I always liked stories of explorers and adventurers and staring at maps, dreaming, wondering what it is like in the places I stare at. My first trip turned into quite a long one (5 years). The experience changed me in ways I never thought and I am very happy with the person I've become. I couldn't be happier.

PHILOSOPHY

Live in the moment. Enjoy every now, take a deep breath and relax, focus only on what is. If you want something in life go and get it. Do the right thing by others, keep your karma good and life will look after you. Accept the bad karma for your bad deeds. I take alot of my philosophy from Tibetan Buddhism which I found gave me reasons why I was unhappy and ways to change that. I'm not a fan of organised religion but I tried it and it worked. I can't argue with that.
You only live once so enjoy it. Live life to the full, experience as much as you can. Do what you want to do, not what other people want you to do.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Only surfing so far, I would like to host but as I am in student accomadation it may not be possible. I want to show people the kindness that others have shown my while I've been on the road.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've not had any bad experiences couch surfing, everyone has been so nice it has blown me away. Given tremendous faith in humanity to my once cynical mind.

Interests

Travelling, playing guitar, trekking, nature, camping, meditating, learning, reading, fishing, meeting people. I also have plenty of things I would like to get in to. I'll add them here when I do!

Music, Movies, and Books

Into the wild, great film. The Shawshank Redemption. I like most kinds of music from Folk to drum n bass. Depends on my mood. I play poppy, bluesy, folky stuff on my guitar so that what I listen to mostly these days. As for books I like books that have some kind of adventure to them, especially true stories. Papillion, Shantaram, On The Road, Into the Wild, Jack London books, Boxing with Shadows, Tolstoy, D.H. Laurance. Also any biographies of muscicians, or historical figures I am interested in.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My life over the last 5 years has been pretty amazing to me, everything about it. It's made me grow and evolve tremedously as well as broadening my mind to the possibilities of life and of myself, anything is possible, live your dreams! Living my dreams has been my amazing thing. "Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake" - Thoreau.
For amaying things I've seen the may not sound so amazing in words. The sun sets/rises in the Pilbara, seeing a platapus, an amazing, huge shooting star, the night sky in the Himalayas, whale sharks, manta rays, the first time I saw dolphins, the view from Frenchmans cap in Tassie, the view from Rothang Pass in Himarachal Pradesh, India, the Mongolian steppes in summer. the Amynye Machen range in China, St. Petersburg. I could go on and on, everything is amazing really.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach guitar, I'm definatly not a great player but I feel I have things to teach. I can also chop vegetables pretty good! I would love to learn blues guitar and vocal techniques. I can always learn more about the guitar and music theory too. I'm also interested in learning about fishing, sailing, languages, bushcraft, permaculture, sustainable living, martial arts, astronomy, kyaking, the sea and the human body.
