关于我
I'm pretty transparent but not easy to summarize. I've lived in many places, worked in many fields, and have a wide global network of friends. I am adventurous, resourceful, studious, creative, community-oriented, and anticapitalist.
Last year, I quit my postal job of five years and moved to Arizona to be closer to my mother, and to inherit a house on a little piece of land from my uncle. Since then I've been back in school, living on savings, and redefining this middle phase of my life by going after impulses I was not able to follow as an adolescent and teen.

Douglas is not a good town to do gig work in. I need to expand my range so I can go after better work opportunities. My current targets are Bisbee, Sierra Vista, and Tucson, but eventually I would like to extend my range to include Texas, Nevada, and California.
As a couchsurfer I will mostly be working on my own in the city, and will only need a place to sleep and take a shower two or three nights per visit. However, I also hope to use this opportunity to build local networks, so I will plan time during each visit to spend getting to know my hosts, trading stories, and building relationships.

音乐、电影和书籍
I am a musical chameleon. I grew up listening to 50s and 60s American pop and country, along with the "Classic Rock," of the 60s and 70s. As an American child of the 80s, I also got into hair metal, new wave, and the "College Rock of the late 80s and early 90s. In the mid-80s I moved to VA Beach and got exposed to reggae and "world music" and also did a much deeper dive into 70s prog rock, and in the 90s and 00s I got into more industrial, goth, and neofolk stuff. Throughout all of that I have always been a fan of the classical station, which now I simulate with Spotify playlists. The biggest names on my playlists these days are Robyn Hitchcock, Laurie Anderson, Peter Gabriel, The Talking Heads, King Crimson, Adrian Belew, etc.
I don't have sitting time for movies these days, but when I do watch, I would say the majority of what I like can be found on the Criterion Collection or on Night Flight Plus. I also like most of the films on ubuweb. My favorite short film artists are Kenneth Anger, the Quay brothers, and Jan Svankmajer.
My most recent book choices fall under 19th century Russian literature, Marxist theory, Anarchism, "Beat literature," and occult studies. I traveled as a teen with Richard Brautigan, Dianne DiPrima, and Alan Ginsberg in my backpack.
我做过的一件不可思议的事情
I've lived on my own since I was 13, so I've done a lot of hard traveling and rough living. I'm sure there is at least one years' worth of nights slept outside/rough under my belt, and most of them occurred before my 18th birthday.
I lived in China (Guangzhou City) for six years as an English teacher. While there, I did not live as a foreigner in that I lived among working class people, under working class conditions. I don't know if either of those are amazing, but I am one of only a very small group of foreigners I met in Guangzhou who lived as I did.

Teach (or help with)
I know my way around:
-basic home improvement and maintenance
-basic vehicle maintenance
-basic electronics
-miscellaneous computer things (operating systems, hardware upgrades, building systems from scratch, etc.)
-basic/intermediate Python, Java
Learn
I am always on the lookout for better ways to do things. I am particularly interested in converting my gravelscaped Sonoran desert 1/4 acre to something I can grow my own food on.
I want to learn more about
-solar, and green(er) energy storage practices
-water collection and storage,
-composting, and water reclamation
-sustainable horticulture
Other than that, I am a regular on learning platforms such as Coursera, Khan Academy, Sololearn, Codecademy, etc. My main learning pursuits are languages (both human and machine,) soft sciences, philosophy and literature, and very sporadic, undisciplined efforts to improve my guitar playing.

I am a storyteller with stories to tell.

I'm good for groceries and something to drink, but I am sure my hosts will have a better idea than me what to do with it.
Beyond that and my shining personality, I would have to think about it or get some helpful suggestions.
