Overview
About Me
I am a 28 year old that recently moved to Melbourne after 8 years in Canberra (broken up by travelling around South America for 8 months, and before that studying in Edinburgh and traveling around USA and Europe for half a year). I play guitar, sing terribly and have started getting into producing and composing music. I enjoy playing cricket, soccer (sorry, football!) as well as skateboarding and snowboarding. I've also got into home brewing, and you are welcome to sample my latest creations.
In 2011 I travelled through the US, finished studying in Scotland on exchange, then travelled through Europe. In 2014 I made my way around all of South America, travelling by myself on buses and hitchhiking. The trip worked out to be about 30 000 kilometers in total and took 8 months.
PHILOSOPHY
Such things are best discussed over some coffees or a more potent brew!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have stayed on many people's couches throughout my travels and hosted a bunch of people in Canberra, Australia.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have been Couchsurfing a handful of times in the United States as well as Europe, and now several times around South America in Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia, Peru and Argentina. Every experience has been great!
Interests
I have been playing guitar for 12 years (mostly blues, rock and jazz) and compose as well as produce music (mostly house, alt-rock and now hip hop). I've got a couple of guitars here and am keen to jam! I play a few team sports including cricket, AFL and soccer (football!).I also skateboard and snowboard. I've got into home brewing recently, so there should be some beers to sample on your stay. I read a bit, mostly classics, and I spend a lot of time trying to find new music to listen to. I watch lots of movies - probably too many!

Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to lots of genres of music, both as a form of relaxation and also to get better at guitar and producing music, so I enjoy listening to blues and rock for learning new guitar skills and lots of house dubstep and hip hop for producing music. My favourite film is probably The Godfather, as I am a sucker for gangster films. I read a little bit, but not as much as I should, my favourite book would probably be Catch-22, but I have many others such as Crime and Punishment and 1984.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I lived, travelled and studied for 7 months on the other side of the world, which was a pretty big deal for me because before that I had never travelled at all, let alone solo.
Highlights from my trip to South America have been:
Travelling up the Amazon river for 6 days on a boat, playing dominoes and drinking cachasa with the locals and sleeping in hammocks at night.
Seeing Angel Falls and paragliding in Venuzuela.
Trekking to Ciudad Perdida and partying in Medellin in Colombia.
Mountainbiking down Cotopaxi and completing the Quilotoa Loop in Ecuador.
Trekking in the Cordillera Huayhuash for 8 days, and Machu Picchu in Peru.
Mountainbiking down La Carretera de Muerte, and relaxing in hotsprings under starlight in Salar de Uyuni in Boliva.
Completing the W Trek in Parque Nacional Torres Del Paine in Chile.
Celebrating New Years in Buenos Aires in Argentina.
And of course, meeting amazing Couchsurfers!!!
Teach, Learn, Share
I am happy to show people how to play guitar and produce music - I am self taught myself - and the more people I can play guitar with the better. If for some reason you want to learn math (up to and including university level) or physics (quantum mechanics, general and special relativity, electromagnetism, fluid dynamics etc) then I am happy to teach. I also enjoy learning about other cultures, backgrounds and languages; I am trying to learn French, Spanish and Greek at the moment
