About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live life to the MAX - Create improvements whenever possible

ABOUT ME

I'm an accomplished generalist. Have done a lot of different things over the years. Can do some things very well, and many things fairly well. Try, not always successfully, to do the right thing. Fit into many circumstances/circles, but often remain just-outside, to preserve my independence and freedom. I have a very wide variety of interests and that enhances my ability to plug in to many situations gracefully.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is a journey. Enjoy every minute of it. There can be a positive view, approach, and enjoyment of even the most mundane of life's many requirements.

Boredom is a curse I have been spared....

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted many, but just recently started surfing myself. Willing to share my space with others who embrace this spirit as well. PLEASE, NO LAST MINUTE COUCHSURFING REQUESTS. Thanks!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

20+ surfers have passed through here now. I have just started surfing myself. My experience with this has been all positive.

Interests

On vacation for the rest of my life !! ... cooking, cleaning up, building, kidding around, socializing, laughing, traveling, photography, movies, brewing lagers and ales, reading, skiing, road trips, speculating...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Too many to limit to one.... Woodstock, '69. Portillo in August (2011), Angels Landing in Zion, Cime de Caron, Skiing Trois Vallee many times, Eclipse of '78(?), Mount St. Helens eruption (ash falling from the sky), Prague, Paris, San Francisco, Russian River Jazz Festival several times, Bodega Bay oysters, Breitenbush and Harbin (sad about 2015 fire) Hot Springs, Steamboat, Top of World Trade Center Tower, swimming underwater with loon, home-birth of daughter, building and living off the grid in my youth, GulfStream Jet - flying so high it was dark and the horizon was very curved. Flying solo. James Herriot (Alf White)(All Creatures Great and Small) in Thirsk before he passed. Bonnie Rait backstage. Oktoberfest in Munich. Delerium Tremens (the bar) in Brussels, Rodin Museum, Monet's Garden. Vicci Martinez and Katie Gray at Breitenbush, Mark Allen, Glen Cunningham, Tuck and Patti backstage, Roy Haynes at the Emmys, 15 foot waves between Big Corn and Little Corn Islands, in an open Ponga (footnote: this kind of crossing proved fatal in January, 2016), a loon swimming underwater circling me to check me out when I had a mask on and could see him or her perfectly clearly - Highland Lake, Maine. Tuscany, Cinque Terre, Riviera (Villefranche), Oslo, Stockholm, Maine, California, Oregon (and road trip from WV to there) (2015). Ski road trip for 42 days Jan-Feb, 2016
