About Me

Hi! We are Jinka Sarpong (26) and Bram Kames (24), nice to virtually meet you.

My name is Jinka, born and raised in Belgium. My father has Ghanian roots, which made for a multicultural upbringing. I call myself a creative explorer. I love drawing, creating and obviously listening to music, dancing, singing, especially in the shower where the sound is always on point (but I will keep it down if necessary of course :D), an outdoor enthousiast, chiller, and mostly, a curious mind!

Hi, i'm Bram. I believe I've taken the unbeaten path many times, which brought me to more interesting places then my contemporaries. I started studying architecture intensively at 14 and continued to pursue this as an academic career. In university other things like music event organisation and artistic management took the lead and i ended up dropping out. I managed an art collective in Brussels of about 25 artist . I ended up building some installation myself and playing in (highly experimental) film projects. After travelling around Europe for a while, it was about time i upgraded my euro-centric mindset to a global one. So i'm deeply excited to meet new cultures and experience the diversity of humanity.

After saving for over a year, we finally made the decision to leave with whatever we got and start this adventure we've been dreaming of so long. So far we've seen India and Thailand, next stop is Cambodia.
We hope you are willing to host us and allow us to integrate in your life and customs. It will be much appreciated!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet new people, exchanging stories and knowledge with a local rather than some boutique hotel or backpacker hostel. All that while saving some money for our further travels. We are also planning to apply for a job as an English teacher in southeast Asia, but before we'd like to hang out as much as possible. After our travels we would love to be hosts and give back what we've received during our travels, so we will stay in contact for sure!

Interests

A big list! luckily it's for two. But as you can tell it's quiet diverse. We still need to find a topic we're not interested in. To think of it now, it might be football. Everyone assumes, since we are Belgian, we must be passionate about 22 guys kicking a ball, but we'll have to disappoint you :D. Anything else, just shoot!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Starting this world trip together!

Teach, Learn, Share

For me, Jinka, I see myself having people skills. I started working as a waiter/ bartender and ended up manager of a bar. On the side i tutored homework to immigrants through my father's organisation. So I've connected with people a lot in life and love to share stories and learn from each other.

I, Bram, have also taught immigrants ageing 5 to 12 through the organisation of Jinka's father. Aside from that I have experience in the arts and would always love to collaborate on a (digital) piece. As a learning experience I believe there is always something to be learned when two cultures interact.
