About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See as much of the world as possible and introduce the amazing Taiwanese culture abroad as I travel.

ABOUT ME

I spent the first half of my life in Taiwan in a harbor town, Kaohsiung. It was a typical Asian city where stores don't shut down till 11 pm, streets are always seen with people walking around, and conveniences were always at hands. Then at age 12, after graduating from primary school, I moved to Connecticut, US to study in middle/high school. I had a very tough time because of the language barrier and I wasn't with my immediate family, so that taught me how to live independently and the values of making good friends.

In the second year of college, I applied for a semester exchange in Sydney, Australia and had one of the best times in my life. Meeting all these international friends had me thinking that I have got to continue this "journey" of world traveling and exploring the foreign cultures that I do not see in Taiwan and USA.

A year after my return, I stepped on the plane again, and had another semester abroad in Seoul Korea. Also amazing experiences overall ! Then immediately after that I came to Europe (the Netherlands) for my third exchange, I know it sounds crazy and makes me seem like a greedy, insatiable person but I am truly addicted to traveling and making international friends.

PHILOSOPHY

- Life is a long journey ! It needs great planning, but also some bits of spontaneity bring a lot of fun and surprises !

- Learn to communicate with people and express your feelings ! Be generous with your words but make sure they contain values !

- Show appreciation for the people who's helped you along the way and been there for you for times needed.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I first made a CS a couple years ago because I was studying abroad in Australia and was interested in doing some road trips but at the time I was still too skeptical of it and did not make a move on CS. However, as more of my friends tell me about their amazing experiences on CS I want to give CS another shot and believe that I am going to have amazing experiences just like my friends had.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far, I have not had much, though I have gotten a few requests but I had to turn them down because the times didn't work out.

Interests

I used to be an indoor type of person, so I enjoyed things like playing the piano, drawing and painting, basically things revolving around creativity and art.

However after a semester abroad lived in Australia I want to live my life outdoors. I am still not the most physically fit person but I am down to bike, hike, swim, and some extreme sports. (bungee jumping is still over the top for me)

Last but not least, meeting people ! The world is big, but not so big after all when I started making deeper connections with people all over the world. I'm also very proud of the Taiwanese roots in me and I would love to persuade people into visiting this beautiful island and experience the Taiwanese hospitality !

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Can't really just think of "one" amazing thing I did.

Let's just say I've been lucky that I was able to study abroad three terms in universities in Sydney, Seoul and Maastricht. They made my college years one of the most international and I plan on meeting people of all different backgrounds.
