About Me

CURRENT MISSION

take on europe on my bandit

PHILOSOPHY

"yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery but today is a gift. that's why they call it the present." [grand master oogway]
i think one of the most important things is to live now, in the moment, because it's the only time we have.
if we live in the past, we are stuck in memories. if we live in the future, we are stuck in expectations. both are not bad, but both are not life.

i live my life because it makes me curious. i like to see, do, think, smell, feel, taste new things whenever possible. if one stops changing, one stops living.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

as a host it's a wonderful idea to share ones home with travelers. it opens your heart and mind and brings inspired people to your doorstep.

as a traveler it's a perfect way to connect with new places. staying with a local is much richer than staying in a hotel and a beautiful way to dive into cultural exchange. (it's also easier on the travel budget :)

Interests

i really enjoy learning stuff.
when i was a kid, i attended a circus school, where i got into card magic and juggling. it was also the time, when i started martial arts. i spent four years learning karate, i visited ninjutsu and then moved on to shaolin kungfu, which acompanies me since ten years now. it's a perfect art to keep body and mind fit and healthy. it also connects to philosphy, having the chan buddhism as an important pole. although i'm not religous, i feel many good ideas can be found in all of them. i like to connect the dots and pick out the precious thoughts.
next to kungfu, i trained parkour and acrobatics, because i like fast climbing and flying.

i love to talk about the world and learn new ways of thinking, feeling and being.

my newest interest is motorcycling. i bought a suzuki bandit gsf 600 a short while ago. and now i'm taking it on a tour through europe. this bike opened a new kind of freedom. it's a wonderfull way to see all the places between the big hotspots. i feel they are often overlooked, but traveling on the road makes me a part of it.

Music, Movies, and Books

i like martial art movies (36 chambers, fearless, danny the dog, matrix, ip man, ...) and a lot of different ones, e.g. la vita e bella, leon the professional, big fish, pineapple express, dead poet society, spirited away, princess mononoke, back to the future, start wars iv - viii, ...

also the marvel universe caught me in cinemas, and i'm binging a good series every once in a while (firefly, vikings, breaking bad, the last airbender, got, better call saul ...)

one of my favorite books is "jonathan livingston seagull", it's a story about a seagull who prefers to perfect the art of flying, instead of repeating the dull daily routine of eating, sleeping and screaming.
at the moment i'm reading "jupiters travels", a classic novel about traveling the world on a motorcycle.

these days i mostly listen to hiphop. i don't follow the gangster money talks rap. i like the new kind of german hiphop, which is elaborated, filled with knowledge and has a good vibe i can connect to. my favourite artists are käpt'n peng, keno, amewu, moop mama, ...
i will also always be bouncing to wu tang and gorillaz.
