ABOUT ME

I was born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Am the oldest of two more siblings, a brother two years younger and a sister, who is six years younger. My parents got divorced when I was six. Due to this biological coincidence I incline to take care of people, to take the responsibility. I can by too serious, a little stubborn sometimes, but I mean well. I learned to make fun of myself and my sense of humour gives perspective. I put a great value to fairness. I tend to think philosophically, but are in fact a really pragmatic person. Under my thorough appearance lies a warm-hearted adventurer. Most of the time I am quite modest, but there are moments (like these) that my modesty vanishes. I am born in August an my sign is Leo. Sometimes I try really hard not to be a bohemian, and sometimes I try really hard to be one.

PHILOSOPHY

Do everyday one thing you are scared of, challenge yourself by any means, the hard things we do count, the easy things doesn't really matter.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am just new, but I want to offer my couch (mattresses really) and try other people's couches, so I can make new friends and learn new things.

Interesses

I love puzzles, riddles and word-games (although I am not that good in the three of them). I am really interested in the (cultural) history of mankind. I love poetry, landscapes and the sound of the sea. I am quite sensitive for smells. I love cooking, a good cookery book always grabs my in attention. I prefer old city centre's above lovely parks, although the sight of untouched landscapes make me shiver. I love art, art history, and all the aspects of art. I prefer science-fiction books above naturalistic (melo)drama. I watch both arthouse films as romantic comedy. I am always attracted by things that aren't correct, or as the should be. A broken window can hold my attention for minutes, while a happy family picture doesn't move me a bit. I can be hypnotized by the braking if light. But my number one passion is the theatre.

The theatre is the place where both pleasant, and unpleasant emotions are being shared. It's a place where you can really sit, and watch, a place where the emotions take over the mind, and after the performance,they force the mind to reflect on it. In the theatre emotion and mind can be one, and there is where we get inspired to great deeds. I am studying for theatre director at the Theatre Academy in Maastricht.

Uma Coisa Incrível que Eu Fiz

I recently crossed the bow of the high bridge in Maastricht. It is 26 meters high, and 4 meters wide. The bow of the bridge isn't mend for walking, but I did, one wrong step and I would have fallen. When I was on the top, the wind was blowing and I could see the lights of Liege in Belgium far away, it was amazing, I felt as if I could do everything.

When I was just a kid, I could control my dreams, because I always had nightmares, I had learned myself to first stop my dreams, and later to control them. I remember one dream, I was followed by a witch that wanted to eat me, suddenly I realised I was dreaming. I stopped my dream, and the next moment I stood in a big white room. I observed that room, and I discovered the absence of a roof. I jumped and in a split second my arms turned into wings, and I flew, all night.

When I was standing -as an ten year old boy- in the Sahara and saw the pyramids of Cheops in the distance, and the sun was blinding my, it was then I new that mankind was so small, and yet so remarkable.

I can share my love for theatre with you. I hope to share some inspiration. Teach how to whistle on his fingers. I hope to learn the word wonderful in every language.
