Overview
About Me
I graduated university in the summer of 2015. But instead of looking for a job straight away, I decided to travel with my girlfriend. Up until April we travelled together, but I still wanted to continue for a month while she went home. We've always felt drawn to exploring other countries; I have worked and traveled over Europe, traveled and studied in Latin America and this year we were able to experience Asia. All over the world I've been fascinated to see the differences between cultures and at the same time how these differences can be overcome through awareness and empathy, even with a simple gesture. I love trekking through nature, admiring arts and culture (especially theatre) and most of all I love the sea and the mountains.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Traveling to other countries is nice, but the best part is meeting people from different cultures. I believe that the world is not made up out of nations, that's just a political invention. Instead the world is made up out of different groups of people with different ideas. Being able to meet people from different cultures creates a sense of solidarity and understanding; something the world is in dire need of. I think couchsurfing creates an opportunity for longer, more extensive and more deep travel.
Interests
I have many! Obviously travel is one of them. Apart from that I'm interested in arts, especially painting, theatre and music. I even perform on stage and sing myself. Next to this I love to hike and go camping. I have a woodstove that enables us to cook anywhere, so I love to go into the mountains/woods and camp.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm a real cultural omnivore. My girlfriend and I had a house in Amsterdam where there was always music playing, the genre depending on which time it is and which mood we were in. I love music with soul and generally a more melancholic atmosphere, but I'm also into the more energetic stuff.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I love to do hitchhiking. The coolest hitchhikes I've done are from Vilnius, Lithuania to Amsterdam, catching rides from the center to the north of Chile and from Kangding to Chengdu in China. I studied in Mexico and feel connected to the community where I did voluntary work for half a year, building houses and teaching young children about al kinds of stuff, including theatre of course.
Teach, Learn, Share
I've tought Improvisation theatre and I'm good with languages.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love to cook, especially after a long time backpacking, cooking my own food is something I miss. Other than that I can help out in the house and practice languages.
