About Me
**CS is NOT a dating website and I am on cs SOLELY for coushsurfing purposes. Please understand and respect that!**
Hi everyone! My name is Jiyoon (pronounced kind of like the month June) and I am a gap year student living in Madrid. I'm currently volunteering at a local school as an English teacher and a teacher's aid in a fourth grade classroom--I absolutely love working with kids and really envy their enthusiasm and endless energy! I LOVE to travel, meet new people, and learn new languages, which are the reasons why I chose to come live abroad. I love jazz and r&b, I play the piano and flute, and dabble in sketching, drawing, and photography.
Also, I apologize that I currently can't host any guests because I'm living with a host family!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Growing up in an immigrant family in the States, I learned early on the value of culture, language, and identity. My parents brought me up to have a very humble and open perspective, which fostered my curiosity about the world around me--my dream as a kid was to travel the world, and I am so fortunate to have had the opportunity to finally begin achieving that dream this year. More than anything, I love meeting new people and listening and sharing stories. I think couchsurfing is a great way to connect with so many wonderful people, so that's why I'm here!
Music, Movies, and Books
My music taste ranges from Louis Armstrong, the Carpenters, Billy Joel and Crowded House to Gallant, Trevor Wesley, Bruno Mars, and Shakira. My favorite books are the Kite Runner, East of Eden, The Giver, and Greek Mythology tales, although I'm currently reading any kind of children's Spanish books I can find. I'm a sucker for animated movies and some of my favorites are Up, Inside Out, and Toy Story.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Choosing to come on a gap year in Spain! Best decision of my life.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm really interested in learning more about photography and, as always, I'm always looking to learn more languages and improve my Spanish.
I am always willing to share my experiences and stories growing up in Korea and the United States! I can tell you all about Seattle and the PNW lifestyle especially.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am definitely willing to share my English, for anyone who is learning or wants to learn and I can also speak fluent Korean for anyone interested in learning a phrase or two. I can also cook some really good spicy korean soup and other side dishes for anyone who wants a little spice and kick :)
