About Me

CURRENT MISSION:

To extend warmth and hospitality to my surfers and want nothing back. To get out into the world and explore with my surfers. To see Japan from different perspectives. To share laughter, happiness and good times with my surfers.

*** Couch surfers who probably won't get a reply from me (some exceptions!)***

- Surfers who send a very short message
- Surfers who haven't filled their profiles out

I'm a language teacher and linguist with a taste for the exotic. I moved to Korea when I was 21, hopped back to the UK for a bit and then came back to Japan at 26 where I've been for the last year and a half. Perhaps I needed a second dose of Asia and was just too curious about what lay across the water from where I lived all those years in Korea. Now I'm settled in well and want to share the magic of Japan with all the cool people that I know are out there in the couchsurfing universe.

I'm an open minded and easy-going guy who loves to help people and offer them a deeper and more authentic experience of the local surroundings as I know I would like to have as a surfer. Because of my location (and probably my general awesomeness) I get a lot of couch requests and don't like to take someone every week so don't take it personally if I decline your request (for best results, request early)

I really enjoy have in-depth conversations with my surfers about anything - life, stories, traveling, interests, culture, work, even politics (a bit). Anyone who appreciates the joy of learning from talking over a cup of tea will definitely have a nice time with me.

I live a healthy lifestyle with plenty of running and Brazilian jiujitsu (I'll tell you more about that if you are interested).

I want to meet more people from around the world who are interested in CS as exchange and not as a hotel service! I'm looking for people I can go out and have adventures with, practice languages with, cook with etc..

My Personal Philosophy:
When you start to develop your powers of empathy and imagination, the whole world opens up to you

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: I like non-fiction books about psychology, productivity and things like that. For fiction I can enjoy just about anything though less a fan of wizards and sci-fi than some of my contemporaries appear to be. Maybe I just can't take anyone seriously who wears a pointy hat.

Some of the best shows I've seen recently are Breaking Bad, Sopranoes, The Wire, Mad Men.. I also like comedy like Louie (C.K) and British comedies/sit coms like Peep Show.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A midnight bike ride around Tokyo with a surfer.
