CURRENT MISSION

It would be an honor to help a traveler spend a night safe and dry, and hopefully even more enlightened when he or she leaves. I also hope someday to be enlightened by my experience on someone else's couch.

ABOUT ME

I have a thirst for travel and adventure, but currently feel rather trapped in my responsibilities and debts involved with being a university student. I do what I can to see the world despite my current situation, and have recently been involved with WWOOF, which has opened my eyes to the endless possibilites in regard to world travel... If only I had known this right after high school... I love to hear new perspectives and wisdom from people from any walk of life. I want to be the kind of person who can turn bad into good, who never turns down an adventure, and who never closes himself off to something because it is new or strange.

PHILOSOPHY

I want to- as Roger Miller said- walk in the rain instead of just getting wet.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well... I am currently out of the country and decided to sign up, so as of yet I have no experience with CS, but when I return to the States, my couch is open to anyone who happens upon Muncie Indiana.

Intereses

Nerdy things like cartoons, science fiction movies and fantasy novels. I love to walk, and would walk around the world at the first opportunity. I have a strange obsession with aliens, and would jump into a space ship without any hesitation if they offered to show me the universe. My most recent interest is in all things Viking.

Música, películas y libros

Movies: I am a sucker for epic fantasy and sci-fi, if it contains some form of adventure, especially of some new strange world I am in. Examples: Baron Munchausen, The Fellowship of the Ring, The Thing, Star Wars, Lawrence of Arabia, The Last Crusade. I also love animated films, my favorites include: The Iron Giant, The Sword in the Stone, Spirited Away, Akira, Paprika, and all things Pixar.

Music: Mr. Bungle, Naked City, Frank Zappa, Ruins, Melt-Banana, Tokyo Jihen, Dave Brubeck, Wes Montgomery, Old Flaming Lips, and I think Andrew W.K.'s "I Get Wet" is and always will be the funnest album ever made.

Books: Broca's Brain, I Am the Cheese, Candide, Brave New World, Lord of the Flies, I Am Legend, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Harry Potter (nobody can deny this), I am a softy for Star Wars novels like A.C. Crispin's Han Solo Trilogy or the Admiral Thrawn Trilogy. For some reason Buddenbrooks has a reputation as being boring, but I read it most recently and honestly enjoyed it quite thuroughly.

What about life is not amazing? Some things are amazing in wonderful and inspiring ways, others in frightening or saddening ways, but there is so much about life that is truly amazing.
