About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To read the world with my eyes and ears

ABOUT ME

I'm a third year Biology and Theatre/Dance student at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota currently studying at Lancaster University in the UK for two terms. I had traveled North America fairly extensively, but never left it until coming over to England to study and have loved exploring the world over the pond.

PHILOSOPHY

I've always been one to want to try everything once and the more I travel the more I'm realizing that that's going to take a long time, but I haven't let that get me down.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I heard about couch surfing a few years ago from some friends, but never got around to really seeing what it was all about. Now that I've joined I'm excited to jump in and travel and meet some new people. I'm in a dorm right now so I don't currently have a couch, but I hope to host when I get back to the states.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Not much at the moment, but hopefully that changes soon.

Interests

Theatre (all aspects), Dancing, Baseball (Go Twins), traveling (obviously), Biology (medicine mostly), Ultimate Frisbee, photography (currently have Sony a300), and I love movies of all kinds (Nightmare Before Christmas, Shakespeare in Love, Big Fish, Garden State, Wedding Crashers, and Almost Famous come to mind at the moment), music (Killers and Jason Mraz at the moment), and loving Obama.

Music, Movies, and Books

Already mentioned movies and music, but I do love reading as well. I've recently read "Revolutionary Road" and "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" and loved them both. Some good classics are "Of Mice and Men" and "Crime and Punishment". I've also enjoyed Ted Dekker books and read a lot of plays by Shakespeare, Stoppard, Mamet, Becket, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen many of the big famous monuments over the past few months including the David, Sistine Chapel, Colosseum, Eiffel Tower, many of the largest churches in Christendom (Milan, London, Rome, Florence, etc.), Prague Castle, Auschwitz Concentration Camp, San Marco Square, and many more. I've also loved the small things like Fado music in Portugal, Chopin/Mozart concerts in a small Krakow cathedral, crepes in Paris, and a football game in Prague.

Teach, Learn, Share

1. Norway has only four and a half million people with about 500,000 living in Oslo
2. The Mall of America is 15 minutes from my house in Minnesota
3. The four presidents on Mount Rushmore are Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Roosevelt

The number one thing I would love to learn is to speak another language. I've felt so monolingual while traveling.
