ABOUT ME

I've always been a free soul, making up my own rules and following them with integrity and accountability. I love community living and have lived and started my own cooperative house Folsom Farm. I've been a performing musician my entire life in jazz, rock, funk, musical theater and classical genres. I live life to investigate the magic and mystery of what it means to be alive. I have a passion for minimalism and human potential, for living lightly on the earth and using what we already have to minimize our need to contribute to the rat race. I think ahead and consider the nature of what might be a lifestyle required in a future where we don't have as much as most of us have gotten used to having.

PHILOSOPHY

My philosophies are largely created around minimalism. Living simply, spending little, utilizing the waste stream so that the time we are left not having to work as much can be spent investigating and carrying out one's own personal truth. I feel there is much more going on day to day than any of the work/job/family models we have been brought up with. I'm always curious to learn something new in a creative approach to living life, supporting ourselves and finding meaning and fulfillment in how we spend our time day to day.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I offer my couch and I take other people up on their couch offer. I generally bring food and cook and will definitely play some music if there's an instrument around! I always love an engaging conversation.

Interests

I'm engaged by spiritual study and practice, by the potential of groups of people, of the creative potential of a home space. I spend much of my time performing music on stage, writing songs, writing words, walking and scribbling in my notebook. I meditate and read and am usually trying to discovery something new in my conversations with myself and others.

Music, Movies, and Books

I tend to not watch movies much although I love them when someone forces me to sit down and watch. I love electronic music- trance, ambient, psychedelic. I love modern jazz.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've had many moments perched atop a mountain that i spent the day climbing in some middle of nowhere in Nevada, or Switzerland or even the California coast. I would say the more awe-inspiring thing I do is cloud watching and star gazing. The sky over our heads is the final frontier and I'm always amazed that sometimes I forget it's there, being so focused in front of me. Life is 3D! Another inspiring moment is every time I can see that the world around me is part of something much bigger than the details, that we are all part of something that came before us and will continue long afterwards. I'm amazed by natural beauty of all types and awe-struck when I'm liberated from the story of what i think is going on around me.
