To be the next William Wallace, but without the fighting. And torture. And scottish accent
ABOUT ME
Hello CS community. I enjoy meeting new people with interesting personalities and from different cultures. I love living in Hawaii and take advantage of the many opportunities that it offers. I spend much of my free time outdoors, mainly hiking and going to the beach. Occasionally, I go surfing.
PHILOSOPHY
I want to see, learn, and experience as much as I can in this world before I have to leave it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I truly enjoy hosting people from around the world and learning all about their travels and home countries! I also love sharing my modest knowledge of my home and what makes it unique. There's so much more you can learn about a place with an hour conversation than from reading about it on Wikipedia.
2016 update: In April of 2016, I set out to take one year off to travel. I really loved life on the road and was able to get law work from old attorney friends. So I decided to extend my travels! I work remotely now and move from place to place. If you're reading this, my trip is still going strong!
2020 update: I got a job offer back in Hawaii that was too good to pass up. So I'm back in Honolulu for a minimum of 5 months and ready to host again!
2022 update: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I decided to end my travel life and make Honolulu my permanent home. I was sad about how it ended, but I'm happy about my current situation and looking forward to the next chapter in life! Now that things are getting back to normal, I'm ready to start hosting again.
Interests
At home, I love being outdoors. I am passionate about hiking. I also try to stay fit by swimming, biking, and running.
I was an amateur musician in my past life, so I also enjoying plucking a tune or tickling the ivories when the mood strikes.
While traveling, I would like to learn more about local culture and of course food. If possible, I would like to do outdoor adventures such as multi day or day hiking, camping, scuba diving, etc.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: Travel books, mainly by Bill Bryson, pop psychology such as Outliers, and history
Movies: Casablanca, Adaptation, Gattaca, Once, Groundhog Day, and unintentionally hilarious kung fu movies starring Jean Claude van Damme, Steven Seagal, or the incomparable Chuck Norris.
TV: Arrested Development, The Wire, Planet Earth
Music: I love good songwriting and passionate singers. Damien Rice. Solomon Burke. Sufjan Stevens. Neutral Milk Hotel. The Weepies. Adele. Dylan. Beiber.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I traveled around the world for three and a half years. It was quite the trip!
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: I can teach guests and hosts about Hawaii and the English language. I'm a lawyer, so if you want to be put to sleep, I can discuss US laws.
Learn: I have so much to learn! I'm most interested in learning about cultures of guests' homelands and hosts' host cities. I particularly enjoy foreign and regional cuisines. I'm a novice Spanish speaker and have learned enough Mandarin Chinese that I can embarrass myself while ordering in a restaurant.

What I Can Share with Hosts
I've gained my fair share of travel knowledge over the last few years, so I'm happy to share stories. I'm also a silly guy, so I can share good conversation and laughs with hosts.
