About Me
Hi, I'm Jay!
I'm a quirky, creative fourty-something human who loves exploring new places, meeting new faces, and capturing life's moments through photography and vlogging for my YouTube channel! (StitchyJam Knits)
As an animal lover and passionate about all things creative, you can find me:
- Meditating or practicing yoga (when I'm not being lazy)
- Bushwalking, cycling, or gardening
- Learning to code (still a beginner)
- Designing graphics/documents/websites etc.
- Visiting museums, galleries & gardens
- Embracing my neuro-spicy side and celebrating neurodiversity
- Training for long-distance walking adventures (because one day I'll tackle that epic trail!)
- Exploring the great outdoors, chasing bugs, and admiring the tiny wonders of nature
- Geekily obsessing over lichens, mosses, and all things green
- Knitting, crocheting, and spinning – fiber crafts are my jam!
I'm excited to explore cities from a local's perspective, connect with nature, and learn new things along the way!
My hosting style: Respectful, considerate, and tidy. I'll treat your home like my own!
Pet-sitting skills: Proven track record of loving and caring for furry friends (ask Lauren, my London host, for a reference and check out my IG @trustedinhomepetsitter)!
Looking forward to meeting new people, sharing stories, and creating unforgettable experiences!
Feel free to reach out and let's connect!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on Couchsurfing to connect with like-minded individuals, learn about their cultures, and experience the world from a local's perspective. I'm passionate about sharing meals, stories, and laughter with new friends.
As a curious and adventurous soul, I'm eager to explore as many places as possible and immerse myself in different ways of life. I believe that meaningful connections and experiences are just as valuable as sightseeing.
I'm happy to exchange skills and talents, such as cooking, pet-sitting, gardening, and cleaning, for the opportunity to stay with locals and learn from them. Most importantly, I'm excited to share conversations, ideas, and laughter with my hosts and fellow travelers.
Let's connect, share, and explore together!

What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share a traditional meal from my culture or a favorite recipe with my host through cooking.
I'd be happy to offer to practice conversations with my host to help improve their language skills (English)
I can assist with pet sitting and dog walking.
I can lend a hand with gardening tasks, such as planting, weeding, or harvesting.
I'm willing to help with household chores like cleaning, laundry, or other tasks around the house.
If my host is interested, I can offer to take photos of their home, family, or surroundings (if I have my SLR on me)
I'd love to share stories about my culture, travels, or life experiences with my host.
I can assist with any graphic design needs.
I'd be happy to share my knowledge about my hometown or other places I've visited with my host.
Sometimes, simply spending quality time with my host, engaging in conversations and activities together, is the best way to show appreciation for their hospitality.
