About Me

After some short spurts of traveling over the years, I am finally living out my dream to see as much of the world as possible. I came to Australia in December 2018 and will be continuing on through south east Asia!!

I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and went to Carnegie Mellon for my degree in art. I've been into painting, drawing and so many other forms of art since I was 10.

I love being outside as much as possible, having fires, gathering with people for over food or coffee, going on hikes, and enjoying the simple things in life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I travel both in the US and outside of the country, I prefer to couchsurf because it provides me with the opportunity to see the city through a new point of view and visit places that I may have never heard of otherwise. I also love meeting new people and getting to know as much about them in the time that I am there. Not only does this help build a sense of community on a much grander scale, but on a personal level, I grow with each person I meet.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was in Portland, Oregon in the Summer of 2010 when I had my first couchsurfing experience. I stayed with a lovely lady named Katie who showed me her neighborhood, we walked her dog (Trout!) to a nearby park, and went to an outdoor movie. It was a great experience because I felt incorporated with her and her friends, yet I still traveled on my own. On a more personal level, seeing her interest in comics & a different kind of art that I don't know much about made me want to understand all of the different kinds of creative people that make up this world!

Interests

Being outside as much as possible both while traveling and at home is important to me. It really makes me feel alive. I don't think we're meant to be trapped in these little boxes.
Art has always been apart of my life, sometimes more than others but it has helped me grow and get through many times.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love a wide, wide range of music from Pink Floyd, Ted Nugent & David Bowie, to Odesza, Talamasca, Schpongle... I listen to a lot of psytrance, ambient & electronic music and grew up with a lot of classic rock & alternative.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Stood naked watching the sunrise on a sand dune in Iles de la Madeleines in Canada. On one side of the water was the sand dunes where I stood and on the other were these beautifully red, rich soils and rolling green hills. It was the most interesting geography in one small space that I had ever seen!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to cook- I feel like it is such a loving and nurturing gesture. Really having a meaningful conversation- In such a big, crazy world, it seems easy to forge that we can learn so much from one another, even in a short time.
