ABOUT ME

They call me Planny because I delight in setting up trips and travel reservations. They know I love languages. They´d also mention that I like to do sporty things even though I´m generally the worst player on the team, the last runner across the finish line, etc. If they were feeling spiteful, they´d mention my love of Star Trek (TNG, of course).

Interests

I love writing. When I´m traveling, I like to a) eat everything and b) learn something I can bring back to the US. For instance, a language, but even something like the first few chords of a traditional song (probably on a guitar, which I can´t play) or a local dance. I´ve started to become more interested in talking about politics, which makes me feel old.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1) Sitting on a porch on an island in Maryland (so exotic!) and watching the sunset, pondering a day spent finding shark teeth and rescuing a man with a capsized sailboat.

2) Hiking down a mountain -- or probably a very tall hill, by most definitions -- in the Republic of Georgia and spotting a bright, clear double rainbow arcing over a village.

3) Late-night skinny dipping in Maryland and stirring up the bioluminescent creatures that made the water glow green and drip off your arms like glitter.
