Overview
About Me
I grew up playing guitar, reading books and taking photographs in a small hippy town in South West England. I studied music in London, spent a few years messing around in Berlin, then settled in gorgeous Amsterdam.
I work as a composer and sound designer in theatre, dance, film, and various collaborative or cross-arts projects. This means constantly meeting new people, learning new skills, travelling, building new families. It's chaotic and sometimes unstable, but also deeply exciting and I love it.
I live in an amazing commune of artists in a guardianship in South West Amsterdam. There are 13 of us from across the whole creative universe; we're not just housemates but also friends, collaborators and family. I love being part of such a supportive and communal environment; there's always someone to talk to or learn from and it constantly opens doors into new social groups, subcultures and creative scenes.
I'm a generally calm, optimistic and open-minded person. A very social introvert; curious spirit, but happiest when I have a chance to get grounded and reflect between each adventure. More of a listener than a talker, but I have loads of fun stories to share. I'm passionate about climate (part-time activist) and big on progressive gender politics/feminism. Vegetarian (on-and-off vegan). Queer/queer friendly. INFJ.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To travel in a more personal way, to share stories, to learn about other philosophies/attitudes/cultures, and maybe to pick up a few neat recipes. Also, I'm into encouraging generosity and hospitality in this increasingly selfish world.
Interests
I've always had a very active interest in music, so I go to a lot of concerts. I take a lot of photographs, sometimes on a nice film camera, sometimes on my terrible smartphone camera. I love cooking, I cycle everywhere, and I often go swimming or running.
Equally happy spending an evening reading and cooking or dancing and drinking.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love all kinds of music! At the moment I'm particularly enjoying Morton Feldman, Karelian folk music, and getting back into Prince.
I don't watch a lot of movies because I get sick of looking at a screen after a day's work. I recently discovered Pedro Almodóvar though, who I think is fantastic.
Recent reads: Louise Glück - Village Life, Chris Kraus – I Love Dick, John Berger – Confabulations.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A recent trip to Vietnam was a crazy introduction to life outside of the West. It gave me a whole new perspective on the world.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you some tunes on the guitar, some music theory, or how to make sounds on a computer!
