CURRENT MISSION
Gettin' serious.
ABOUT ME
Back in July I bought a one-way ticket to Belgrade and I couldn't be happier. I'm inclined towards the practical, but at the same time I do insane things like buy one-way tickets to Belgrade. Honesty, straightforwardness, and goofiness are very important to me.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Mostly hosting, lately!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My first experience was surfing with MJ in Kiev. This was the first time I was truly on my own and realized that trusting "strangers" can be fantastic! Many of the blessings in my life can be traced back to CS.
Interests
Slavic languages, Eastern Europe and Russia, nonviolence, immigration, modern literature, sociology of race and poverty, lots of things, really. Photography. Shitty music, and good music too. Finding things in unexpected places.

Music, Movies, and Books
Most days I'd rather watch a poorly written romantic comedy or failed thriller (i.e. I Know Who Killed Me starring Lindsay Lohan), but I do enjoy the occasional "good" movie: Hedwig and the Angry Inch, The Fall, Shortbus. Always looking for documentary recommendations.
Books: Anna Karenina, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, Everything is Illuminated, On Beauty, The Poisonwood Bible, Sorokin's ICE
Lately I've been listening to a lot of Canadian pop. My all-time favorites would have to be Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Ryan Adams/Whiskeytown, the Hold Steady, Gogol Bordello, Narkotiki
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
tons
Teach, Learn, Share
What I can share: how to make various fermented food products; Russian, Spanish, English. I'm also a decent hair cutter so if you need a hair cut just let me know. Never ruined anyone's head permanently. Want to learn: Russian/Slavic languages in general; previously-unheard-of crafts; how to better crochet; unbelievable/maybe-not-true historical facts; how to teach.
