Overview
About Me
Hello, my name is Júlia, I'm originally from Brasil but have been living in the United States for the last eight years. (Yes, I'm Asian and yes, I'm still very much from Latin America—and proudly so!)
日本語を勉強していますから、少しだけ話します :)
I'm a university student majoring in International Affairs, so I'm one of those nerds that like to think about history and current domestic and international affairs as I walk the streets of a new country I'm visiting. If you are also like that, we should become friends :)
I like thinking about identity and feminism, learning languages, bad puns, planning trips (it's half the fun of traveling), Ghibli movies, obsessively looking at airfare websites to find the cheapest ticket for a flight I will not book, yogurt and honey, people-watching, and listening to people talk about things they are passionate about.
I fucking LOVE public transportation.
Most of the time I crave deep one-on-one conversations, but sometimes I want to party—I'll usually match whatever mood you are in!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
This might be a bit of a cliché, but coming back from my travels what I remember the most are the people I've met along the way. I joined Couchsurfing for the chance to meet new people in a new environment and truly get to know them as we explore the city together or eat dinner together or do anything together. I want to hear from you about your experiences growing up, how you view the world, the best-kept secrets of your city, and in exchange I'll tell you my story.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Went camping in Canada with one of my dearest friend without much planning and by pure luck ended up in one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen (look it up: Bruce Peninsula National Park). Nothing has quite compared...yet!

What I Can Share with Hosts
If the right ingredients are available in your local supermarket, I can try to make this chocolate-y Brazilian sweet called "brigadeiro" or make you Brazilian carrot cake.
I would gladly teach you Portuguese, as well as converse in English if you'd like!
