About Me

** Full-Time Traveler for 2 years, loves to chat and meet new people, find community, and create amazing experiences **

Hi :) I´m Jacky!

I was born and raised in Germany but my Dad is British. I grew up in a small town with a lot of animals and close nature. We travelled a little in Germany but never to big destinations as we had Dogs and Horses to take care of.

I started travelling when I was 19 moving out from home to become an Au Pair (live in Nanny) in the US. I did this for 2 years living in New Jersey and Las Vegas. I went back to Germany afterwards to go to University and study international Management. During that time I started travelling to destination places within in Europe and also travel in Europe for one month in a big car which functioned as a little home on wheels. After I finished University my then-boyfriend and I started travelling for one year around the world including Scandinavia, Iceland, the US, Canada, Mexico, Thailand, Japan, Bali and lived in Australia for 6 months, where we converted a car to a camper and travelled the whole country.

We then returned to Germany to start our "grown-up -life". I worked in a Startup, covid happened and in 2021 I decided that I didn't want the town or the job anymore and to go travelling a little while it was possible.

Two years almost have passed and I´m still travelling, I have lived in different places in Europe and since May 2022 travelled and discovered Central and South America. I became a Yoga Teacher, started my own business as a business consultant in Germany and have lived in Costa Rica for a few months.

Now I focus on slow travel (which I still never manage to do because I get too excited), work on my businesses and develop my knowledge and skills. Eventually, I want to find my space in the world where I am happy and I want to live until then I will keep on exploring, chasing the sun and living on the beach.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have not used Couchsurfing in over 10 years but it was a joy the last time I did, I met some really cool people and have some really cool stories to tell. Some fun, some weird but all good experiences.

I came back now because I am in the US and feel that Couchsurfing here is such a great way to travel. I kept some of my old pictures but rewrote all the texts as I have changed drastically since I was 19 :)

I love community and meeting new people, I firmly believe that we are all meant to live in bigger groups, get to know more people and learn from, inspire and help each other.

I think Couchsurfing gives you more of an impression about a place because you get to cool meet locals which is not as easy sometimes when you are travelling and just staying for a short time. I feel there is a much bigger impact on both sides compared to staying in an Airbnb.

Also with travelling on a budget and no hostels around like in a lot of cities in the US, Couchsurfing is a great alternative.

Interests

I became a yoga teacher in Costa Rica in 2022 after Yoga changed my life during the pandemic. I wanted to learn more about it and just have 3 weeks to focus on it.
As most yoga teachers will tell you, the intention is almost always to just learn and then you get so hooked that you end up being a yoga teacher anyways.
I now love teaching and holding space for people, it's one of my favourite hobbies!

I also ride horses since I was very little as my mom owned horses. I lived in Crete, Greece and worked as a horseback riding tour guide for excursions on the beach with tourists and I loved it!

I grew up with animals, and always loved to hike, read, surf, swim, dive, ride bikes, walk and do many more things.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love basically everything you would hear on any radio station mixed with things that I randomly find or friends introduce me to. Big fan of Taylor Swift and her music.

I love listening to music, podcasts and audiobooks.

I like to read ALL the self-improvement books (continuously try to do it at the same time) and the occasional romance novel. Harry Potter is a must in my opinion.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I used to live in the US back in 2011-2013 I used Couchsurfing with a few of my friends and while sceptical we always had an amazing time! MY favourite time was when the hosts took us to a picnic philharmonic concert, it is one of my favourite memories.

I have travelled 39 countries so far and have done a lot of things, I can tell a few good stories

I am a Yoga teacher, so that is one skill I am super happy to share. I study and learn daily, love deep talks and just chat about life.

Big fan of community, helping each other out and creating a lovely experience for everyone!

I´d love to share my home one day, where ever that might be :)
