ABOUT ME
I currently live in Copenhagen, Denmark. I am from Canada and have spent most of my life around the capital city Ottawa. I studied industrial design there and focused my studies on service design and sustainability. I also lived in Sweden for a year in 2008/2009 where I completed a Masters degree in strategic planning for sustainability, project facilitation, leadership, and innovation. I also have a huge passion for cycling and cycling culture in cities like Copenhagen and Amsterdam.
I am fascinated by people, culture, and place; and I have had the opportunity to make many wonderful friends all around the world.
When visiting cities I prefer to do just a lot of walking to get a sense of the place and the people, rather than doing a lot of tourist-type activities. I also love taking public transit, exploring neighbourhoods, and finding good restaurants and cafes.
I love dancing, nothing formal, but just dance-clubs with good music. So if you are up for dancing, that's great! I think it's sometimes hard to find people who really like dancing and to find good places.
I have had some amazing couch surfing experiences and have really enjoyed meeting all of my hosts and guests. If there is a chance for us to share a coffee, a meal, or some discussion, I think it makes the whole experience a lot better.
I am 196cm tall or 6' 5"... you can't see this in my profile photos, but it makes it easy to find me in a crowd :)
Best of luck to everyone for excellent CS experiences! :)
PHILOSOPHY
Be honest. Be humble. Find joy in the simplest things. Cherish friendship and diversity, and always try to understand the other persons perspective. Always focus on the positive, because there are many positive things going on.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I regularly promote this project during conversations with friends. I also have surfed a bunch and hosted.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I learned about CS around 2006 and was extremely interested in the project. The values and concepts of the CS project coincide with my interests and work.
I finally used CS on a trip to California in February 2008. I was attending a conference there and could not find a hostel anywhere near the conference in Pasadena.
My CS experience was much better than any hostel experience that I have had before and I would recommend CS instead of hostels because it allows you to meet locals and exchange information, stories, etc. It is much more interesting and fun and helps you better understand where you are visiting and the world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I hitchhiked across Canada a few times when I was younger. I got one ride that was about 5000 kilometers. That's unbelievable, and I was dropped off at the door of my house.
