ABOUT ME

I am an ESL teacher in my mid 20s. I love to travel, eat and study history, and since no one will pay me to do that I teach English. I'm currently finishing a contract in Georgia and plan on teaching in Korea afterwards. I love to eat, and though I drink I do it very sparingly.

If I am visiting a country it's very safe to assume I'm doing it for the food. Vietnamese and Mexican are my favorites, but I've never been anywhere without thoroughly enjoying the cuisine.

I have lived with several host families in several different countries. I know how to respect people's homes and cultures while I am a guest.

I have passable understanding of Russian, but I am notoriously bad at learning languages.

PHILOSOPHY

I don't really worry too much about a philosophy. I try to address each event or issue with critical thought rather than just torturing or diluting one thought to be vague enough to apply to everything.

I plan on becoming a more active member once I go to Korea this fall. If my place is big enough I plan on hosting then.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have lived with two spanish host families, A Russian host family, and a Georgian host family. My family also hosted three students from Spain while I was in high school.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a natural cynic and so I love satire in literature. I prefer Dad rock (classic is so pretentious). I don't watch a lot of movies but I do love sports.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Trying to explain beer-pong to my Georgian Grandmother in pigeon Russian/Georgian was pretty bizarre.

Contrary to popular belief, peeing on a jellyfish sting does not actually relieve the pain or serve any medicinal purpose. I guess it was a good bonding moment with my cousin but in retrospect I wish I had done my research.
