About Me

I've crossed the United States hitchhiking twice over, bicycled the whole of the California coast, backpacked volcanoes, taken daylong buses after daylong train-rides. Now I work a day job in a food co-op just as wacky and zany and meaningful and poignant as travel.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Travel to me is an exercise in vulnerability — it is to throw yourself out into the world and trust that you will be taken care of — even if it hurts, or is scary beyond belief – and hope that you learn or enjoy something to last you a lifetime.

I have been privileged enough to throw myself into travel many times now – and each time, miraculously – I have been taken care of. I understand deeply that the help and hospitality and care I've received are the result of the labor and effort and others, and I support this community because I want this to continue to exist, and to contribute what I can.

Couchsurfing – unlike Airbnb or Uber or the rest of the "sharing economy" – is an attempt to amplify the magic of pure generosity; I hope I can help!
