About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To get my body strong enough to continue having fun in my middle age.

ABOUT ME

My friends say: Extrovert. Kind. Thoughtful. Sensitive. Sociable. She can Talk. Funny. Needs some private/personal time daily. Fully house trained. Intelligent. Interesting.
I'll add (as opposed to what my friends might say!): I'm fun. I like variety. I like yoga, meditation, hanging out in cafes, music, dancing and I like being helpful. I like meeting people.
I need time every day or so to look after my body (had a few falls that left problems). I have a yoga practice that sorts it out. I've been meditating daily since Feb 2016. Loving it.

PHILOSOPHY

Know yourself.
Be kind, starting with myself.
This is the time when we get to decide the fate of humanity and what kind of life future generations will have on our planet. Terrifying and very stimulating.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm currently renting a room from people who I'm still getting to know. I hope we will open the house to couchsurfers (I think they have in the past), here in Sheffield.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I stayed with a Polish couchsurfer in Salisbury, UK in December 2014. It was brilliant fun. x

Interests

I'm back in Sheffield now, I put loads of energy into a conscious dance event I created in 2013, 'Good Morning Rave', and last month I decided that I am not going to be running it anymore. So thats big and will open up space for another project or two... so that'll be interesting.
I really got into getting loads of silly clothes/fancy dress for the event and so now I have a great collection. I hope to be able to share it this summer at other festivals.
I'm back doing aromatherapy massage and healing work and loving it, which is why i really have to keep working at looking after my body. I also work in a vegan shop called Incredible Nutshell a couple of days a month.

I love going to festivals: 2016 they were Festival 23 (all about Chaos Theory) where I took my Fancy Dress stuff and Northern Green Gathering (just as a customer). I worked at Shambala as an Usher at the Cabaret tent.

I like to do voluntary work, this Xmas its around food for homeless people and practical presents for vulnerable people.

Yoga and Meditation. They are the bedrock of my life now. More a necessity like food. So I need sufficient space to do some yoga around 3 times a week... recommendations for a good yoga class (or a similar holistic method) nearby. The class I go to, and the therapeutic model I've been using, is Iyengar. But I love any style so long as its not too rapid as I need to stay really present to prevent re-injuring myself. Meditation: using the Metabarvanah (sp?) and mindfulness of breathing plus a few others such as the microcosmic orbit and just simply sitting and watching.

If I'm working in the place I'm visiting: I'm looking for somewhere quietish, with some privacy so I can crash and recover before another days working. But I like to share meals and chat over food and a glass of wine. But I'm as likely to not drink if i'm working.

I like reading books and hanging out at cafes.... I recently stopped drinking cows milk and soya milk so I've had to change my drinking habits and I'm a veggie.

I've been learning how to DJ, using VirtualDJ and I've done a couple of sets. Not such great mixing but I love getting people dancing to good music.

I've recently started another Shamanic training, this one with the Deer Tribe, linked to a 3000yr+ 'system' from the Americas. Interesting, some great tools for living a connected life and learning about myself.

Music, Movies, and Books

Last movie was the new Star Wars... Rogue 1. Very old school, so I liked it.
I like most music genres, just good music really. I like BBC radio 6.
I rarely listen to dance music, but I loved it when I was clubbing. I'm more into conscious dance now, which requires a different kind of dance music. More interesting, less trancy/hypnotic.
Last CD I sat and listened to was by John Grant I think. At a friends whilst feeding her cat.
The book by my bedside is Woman Heal Thyself, a book on the 'forbidden' acupuncture points used to help women control their fertility.
I also have a set of oracle cards by my bed: The wild wisdom of the Faery Oracle. I specifically use this deck during the Solstice/Equinox times and other 4 fire festivals. My other fav deck is the Zen Osho Tarot.

I've restarted going to 5 Rhythms and recently joined a choir!!
I love Rumi's poetry. Reading Greg Bradens Fractal Time... about time and big cycles of time, such as the (if I understand it properly) orbit of our solar system as it moves within our Galaxy the Milky Way.
Favourite Films: The first film I fell for was The Big Chill; also i've watched Buffy the vampire slayer full series, twice. Hmm. I havent had a TV for 15 years ish, but this winter I've been rather stuck on Netflix... I loved iZombie and some of the Marvel series, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went as a human shield around 14 years ago to The West Bank, Palestine.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to share: Yoga, energy work, massage, essential oils (how they work) how to be 52 years young, the nature of spirit.
I've trained with a couple of shaman and I have a couple of totally effective rituals I love to share.
Reiki/Seichem.
I'm up for some inspiration in the cooking department; how the brain works, or doesn't. I'm a massage therapist and Aromatherapist, I'm interested in healing and health.
Photoshop software.
Running a dance event, Dj'ing skills (desperately sought by meeee)!
Juicing, vegan cooking, healthy cooking. (not that I eat like that all the time I need to add).

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm easy going, can be left to my own devices
I wash up after cooking.
I like cooking. I do like to share meals and chat over them.
I love dogs and cats. Happy to walk dogs, feed animals.
As a house owner I understand security and taking care of being in someone else's environment.
