About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To Enjoy Life

ABOUT ME

Hi im jo, 26 years old and male. Im from England but moved to Chamonix Mont blanc (France) just over a year ago to pursue a more active lifestyle. I have been trying to improve my skiing and rock climbing while here, as well as just enjoying life in the mountains

PHILOSOPHY

I try to be nice to people and enjoy life, dont know if that counts as a philosophy though, or does it??

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

im new to couch surfing and just about to start a cycle trip across the USA and so am hoping to couch surf abit along my way.

here's abit about my trip and the reason i am doing it/ what im hoping to get out of it

I started cycle touring when I was 19 with a trip along the west coast of France. Since then I have done three more trips, John o Groats to Lands End, London to Gibraltar and most recently Iceland’s Route 1. These trips were all just over a 1000 miles and took around 2 weeks.

Since completing my last tour I have been considering a bigger trip, that was until the other day when I booked a one way flight to San Fransico with the return flight just over two months later from New York. This trip is going to be 4 times longer than anything I have done before. It also seems like much more of an adventure than previous trips. Im not sure if this is because its so far away from home, because ive never been to the USA before or because the country is so much larger and more varied in landscape to anywhere I have been before.

All my previous trips were done with friends from school and university but this time im going it alone. I think its going to be lonely at times but im also hoping that being alone will mean I meet a lot more people along the way. Giving me a very real and diverse picture of the country that I am cycling through.

Although i am planning on camping for the majority of my trip it would be nice to have the odd cumfy bed, warm shower or home cooked meal along the way.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Im new, but hope couch surfing will provide me with accomidation but also more importantly be a great way to meet lots of intresting people and be given a locals perspective of the place's i am visiting.

Interests

Living in the Mountains i spend alot of time Skiing, Climbing, hiking and cycling. i also trying to branch out into mountainering at the moment but it is going relativly slowly. although i like to be outdoors and keep active i also enjoy hanging out with mates and being lazy once in a while

Teach, Learn, Share

If you are in Chanonix i have a reasonable knowledge about the surounding mountains if you want to get out and hike, climb or ride in them.

I am reasonable at fixing bikes if you want to learn or need one fixing. im by no means a trained bike mechanic though so dont expect miracles

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

United Kingdom
