About Me

Hi! I'm Joa, from the Kingdom of Belgium. I'm a university student in my second year, and I've had some couchsurfing experience in Japan and Korea.

I'm a native French and Dutch speaker, so you're welcome to practice with me if you want :)

I’m currently studying in Matsumoto, my appartement being about 20 Minutes walking from the station and very close to Shinshu University.

Now, I've always found it weird when you have to talk about yourself in one of these introductions, but here goes anyway:
I'm outgoing, friendly and open to new situations. I have interests in anything, especially in things you are passionate about :)

Besides that, I love linguistics and languages in general, philosophy (metaphysics & epistemology), music, just like every human on earth, reading, movies, watches,...

I speak English, Dutch and French, and I'm just now starting to learn Korean.
I've been learning Japanese for about two years now, so I can somewhat plow myself through daily situations.

Also, the messenger of CS is really crappy, so feel free to add me on Facebook or any messenger app. I have them all. +32497865631

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I hate going to hotels and only meeting hotel personnel ; I want to meet real people, that's why I did WWOOFing and couchsurfing. Also, I like hosting because it gives me a taste of the world even though I'm not travelling at that moment.

Interests

Anything, really! But I do like music, running, kayaking, skiing, talking, discovering places, linguistics & languages in general, philosophy (I have not yet studied philosophy, but I plan on doing so as soon as I have some free time) and reading a lot.
I also play video games from time to time.

Music, Movies, and Books

Classical, Jazz, anything from Baroque to Techno!
But I do have a few favourites ; Lindstrøm, Tokyo Jihen, Sheena Ringo, Django Reinhardt, Electric Light Orchestra, Trentemoller, Fatboy Slim, Eugen Doga, David Bowie, Philip Glass, Stéphane Grappelli, and The Russian Army Choir.

I've also been reading "The Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy" and "At the existentialist café".

I'm also quite a fan of animated movies, my favorites being "les Triplettes de Belleville" and "The World of Tomorrow".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Been to Japan for more than a month and a half for less than a €1000, working on familiy farms and staying in people's homes :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you English, French and Dutch if you want

It would be nice if you could teach me your language in return :)

By "teach" I mean just talking with each other, nothing formal !

What I Can Share with Hosts

I try to be as cheerful as I can, and I try to share my experiences with others !

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Congo, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Swaziland

Countries I’ve Lived In

Belgium, Canada, Central African Republic, Côte d'Ivoire, Gabon, Nigeria, South Africa, Suriname, Tajikistan
