About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To wear out my running shoes

ABOUT ME

I've had many early to mid-life crises but the latest one was about time. There's so little of it and there's a lot more of it behind me than in front of me! So I threw in the academic towel and became a truly free spirit. Now I spend my time travelling, writing, playing guitar, singing, hiking and working on dreams. My family think I'm crazy. My friends think I'm courageous. I'm always willing to take a risk and have been known to rush in where Angel's fear to tread! Hey ho - I survived :) I live by the spirit and go where synchronicity leads me.

PHILOSOPHY

All life is precious and we owe it to the world to be at peace with ourselves and others. Gratitude and love foster powerful energy that, when passed on, can ensure someone has a wonderful day instead of a day filled with bad stuff.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hope to participate more in the not too distant future. I'm really interested to get to know other couch surfers in the area and join in some local events.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had one couch surfing experience in California and it was bril.

Interests

I've given up the academic life to spend my time working semi-professionally with dreams and to do more writing. I've had two books published - both on dream analysis and self awareness - see my website www.docdreamuk.com. I love walking in the countryside; the more rugged the better. I love being outdoors and like to camp when possible. But I'm also a bit of a home bird. I take good care of my home because it's my bolthole - my oasis of tranquility and peace. I'm a trained Harner Shamanic Counselor.
I run a Folk Club in my village and am learning to play guitar a lot better than I currently do.

Music, Movies, and Books

Lord of the Rings - book and film - fab
Donnie Darko - love it
Billy Elliot, Brassed Off and The Full Monty remind me of home - and the last two are incredibly funny.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I jumped out of an aeroplane at 15,000 feet in 2008, I proved to myself that living in the grey world of "what if" and "maybe one day" was not the way I wanted to live my life.
My first site of Yosemite made me cry.
I cried again driving up towards Monument Valley with "Spirit Lands" playing on the CD player.
I cried even more this year when I camped in Glacier NP and Yellowstone in the cold and the wet in a mozzie infested forest LOL
