About Me

Hey everyone! I am especially hosting people who did not find a place to stay for the following night. So if you're really stressed and think you have to sleep on the street - don't hesitate to write me!

My name is Joana. I love music, especially singing. I have a band, called 'The Burning Trees'. Those four people are my family. :)
When I was 8 years old, my parents divorced and I moved to the baltic sea with my mother and my sister. Then I discovered my affection for the ocean. I love the sea. I love taking long walks at the seaside. Hearing the noise of waves hitting the sand. Breathing the salty air, let the wind clean my thoughts. And I think it's unbelievably amazing that the sea - million tons of water - can be silent, too. When nothing hits the surface the ocean is just silent. I could spend hours thinking of the sea.
But before I grow old and move to a lonely island at the north sea, I want to see the world. I want to meet people and listen to them. Everyone has something to say. And everyone deserves a chance to share his thoughts. I love to get to know other opinions. I am very open minded and I am looking forward to discover myself and to change myself. I believe that the best way to do so is to meet other people and visit new places.
I don't need to hit the clubs every night. A glass of wine while talking to interesting people is enough for me.
I hope I can find some people with the same attitude. I think we can become friends easily!

Oh, and my boyfriend and me are both vegetarians. Just to let you know so there's no need for awkward silence on the kitchen table. :D Right now I am actually trying (and I am pretty successful!) to eat vegan. With selfmade vegetable-mush with agar-agar (so called 'vegan cheese', but it's not cheese so I'll call it vegetable-mush with agar agar.)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's not about having references. It's not about having a free place to sleep. It's only about finding new friends, discover that there are people in the world still being good. Everyone I meet through Couchsurfing is becoming a friend. Being respectful, clean, nice and open is so much more important that having 200 references, 1000 friends on the display and a great profile. A profile doesn't tell anything about the actual person behind it. I never was disappointed or had any bad experiences with coucsurfing, because I get in touch with people who have the same attitude as me.
When people come together through such things as couchsurfing, there is always a great story to tell after it. I love the feeling of being welcomed, of not being just a customer. It's all about good people. Couchsurfing is a great place to find such people.
I was lucky to discover the hospitability of different people and in different states of my life. I've learned that it is important to have people to rely on and that I don't have to be alone caring for myself. There are always people with open ears and eyes for me, even when I'm least expecting it and yet need it the most. I want to give that feeling to other people too. Therefore I'm here.

Interests

I love making music. Making a bonfire at the beach and jamming around with friends is so cozy and those nights are the best memories. I always listen. To music, to people, to the wind, the ocean, or a driving train. To birds singing hidden in the woods, or to the absolute silence of our wonderful world. There is so much to explore.
I enjoy sewing my own clothes, reading a good book or procrastinating on 9GAG. Whenever the sun is visible, I want to catch some sunbeams on my face. I like to watch people and not judge them. I am always ready for an adventure. Everytime I make street music I am living a little wonderful adventure. It's the best feeling to see somebody smile while they listen to your music.
I love cooking! It is so much fun and I have to say, I am really good at it. :D
I love animals and the people who give those animals a home. I enjoy taking dogs for a walk or playing with cats or rats, i like riding horses and watching fish and prawns bombing along in the aquarium.
Sometimes I like to sit down, watch a show and drink a glass of wine. I love to live my life the way I like to. I am free and I appreciate it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I saved 1500€ in four months and flew to China for two weeks. I climbed the Etna. And I am aware of my common sense which tells me when to start something, when it's enough and whom I can trust.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach some pretty cool sentences in german, how to sing, how to roll cigarettes for example. I want to learn how to cook great food without receipes, i want to learn how foreign politics work. And I'd love to share time, conversations and my tobacco with you, respect and coffee. Or tea. Whatever you like.
