About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Feel free (allthough it's a discussion whether free will exists ;-))

ABOUT ME

We are going to move to Amsterdam-Noord in october!

My couch also contains cats named Spook and Hemingway and my partner Dirk-Jan also lives here. We have a nice house with spectaculair view on the first floor of a 1940-school in a typically swampy Dutch environment. The 'Zaanse Schans' (tourist typically Dutch windmills etc) is nearby.

We have been cycling in Asia, Africa, Cuba, Europe; Nepal, India, China, Laos, Vietnam (alone) and together in Philippines, Hongkong and Guilin, China.

Take a train from Amsterdam to 'Wormerveer' (25 min) then bus 88 to 'Jisp'(in front of the station) and get out at 'Raadhuis, Wormer'. I teach philosophy in Amsterdam and cycle there 3 days a week. As a teacher I've got loads of holidays. I enjoy cycling and kayakking in different countries.

PHILOSOPHY

Sartre: 'Freedom brings along responsability and that is quite a heavy weight to carry'.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'd love to have travellers of all ages over. People who trust people. Travelling, I've met so many nice people who fed and logded me that I want to do something in return. I also like group-things on couchsurfing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In 2012 I went kanoeing with 50 couchsurfers in Hungary with 'Evezzelem'. After that I cycled through Hungary, Slovakia and Poland and cycled around, doing some camping and couchsurfing. We hosted a nice American man. Unofficially have we camped in gardens and stayed in rooms because we lost our way, were soaking wet by the rain or couldn't kayak further because of strong winds.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Marmotte cycle tour, Luik-Bastenaken-Luik cycletour, cycled from Verona home to Amsterdam. Did 2 times a voluntary project in Nicaragua. Sabbatical 2011/2012: six months of traveling whoeoehoei, Bulgaria, Poland (I love Eastern Europe)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can easily teach people a little bit of everything about philosophy in an understandable way as I teach 12 to 18 year-olds the same. I know a lot about cycling and how to repair your bike. I like Klepper folding-kayaks.
