About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Practice kindness and explore the world.

ABOUT ME

Peace activist, psychologist, Buddhist, vegetarian writer. I am a nonsmoker and nondrinker.

PHILOSOPHY

I've been a peace and justice advocate for 40+ years. Am a vegetarian because of my love of animals. Believe in natural health, so try to garden and cook from scratch when I have time. Seeking the Buddhist path of wisdom, compassion and equanimity.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I travel when I can, though not so much lately.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I host about 10 people a year at my house including friends and friends of friends. I've been a houseguest many times, but not nearly as often as I've hosted in my own home. I even hosted someone in my hotel room once in Boston when I found out she was stranded.
Please no smokers!

Interests

Nonviolence, kindness, justice, bodhichita, gardening, healthy food, cats & dogs, music and the arts. Am not a television watcher except for some public television and nonviolent, intelligent movies and documentaries. Am currently volunteering substantially to a peace organization and to a wild river advocacy group. I love to play scrabble.

I built my own house on 40 acres of wilderness when I was 26.
Spent 6 summers in Guatemala and Chiapas, Mexico as a human rights observer, living in Mayan villages far from civilization to help protect them from violence.
Have explored human relationships as a scientist, teacher, therapist and writer. Have some popular articles and am working on some books.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love natural people - people who value nature and living in harmony with nature.
I love kind people who value peace and justice.
I love people who value the arts - good music, literature, theater and visual artistry.
I love cultures, exploring different traditions, food, music and ways of life.
I love animals and people who love animals.
