About Me

I am a '96 Vietnamese-Chinese, born and bred in Kuala Lumpur. Brought up as a city girl but every chance I get I will literally run for the hills!

I make a living by being glorified dishwasher who gets to boss people around while tolerating people who order their steaks well done.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet different people from other countries/cultures. Basically to explore.
I only found out about Couchsurfing when I was interning at an art gallery, and was co-working with another intern from Belgium. I took the opportunity to show him around and from there I decided that I wanted to be more curious about other people, countries, and cultures, so - here I am!

Interests

Art (from Visual to Music to Writing), food (and not just eating mind you!), and I like to dabble in a bit of Anthropology and Entomology here and there.

Have yet to explore the world but am planning to!

Music, Movies, and Books

I like most kinds of music - from Ludovico Einaudi to FKA Twigs to Celine Dion to Eluveitie. My other favourites include Architects, Lefa, Raphael Haroche, Stromae, Enya, Northlane, Cigarettes After Sex, Hands Like Houses, Lana Del Rey, Serge Gainsbourg. While She Sleeps, LIGHTS, Bon Iver, ES Posthumus, Josh Beech, Lady Gaga, Mark Forster, Lindsey Stirling, Vanessa Mae, Miguel, Michael Jackson, Thomas Bergersen, Eminem, You Me At Six, Lara Fabian, Kool and the Gang, Earth Wind and Fire, The Weeknd, The Beatles, Edith Piaf, Amy Winehouse, Oren Lavie, Zaz, Sia, The Kooks, Marilyn Manson, Woodkid, Michel Sardou (really I could go on.)

Same thing goes for movies/shows.. Important mentions would be Frida, Tim Burton movies, Under the Tuscan Sun, Intouchables, Pan's Labyrinth, Who Am I - Kein System ist sicher, the Book Thief, Taare Zameen Par, 3 Idiots, Cigarettes et Chocolat Chaud, Monsieur Chocolat, Kubo and the Two Strings, The Pianist, La Vie en Rose, The Artist, Mulan (the Zhao Wei version), 2 States, Black Mirror, L'Amant, Dans La Cour,

I am interested in discovering more good books. Feel free to provide some good suggestions! One of my goals in life is to also write a book (or two).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I don't think I've "done" anything mindblowing (that sounds kind of sad actually ah ah), like I haven't gone skydiving or anything like that - but maybe I've experienced one of those small "so grateful to be alive" moments? Maybe something cool would be meeting the French Executive Chef of the Georges Blanc restaurant Chef Frederic Desmurs, and French director/actor Gustave Kervern. That was really something cool for me (at the moment!).

An honourable mention would be that in May 2016 I tried butterfly catching for the first time because I knew someone who collects butterflies as a passion. I didn't catch one, but the attempt felt pretty darn remarkable to me! It's pretty fun but honestly I can't catch them buggers for shit. ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to speak English, Manglish, and Bahasa Melayu.. Some Mandarin Chinese.

I really love learning languages. Currently trying to teach myself French and German.

Though not well-traveled(yet), I think I may have a few stories up my sleeve still! I'm fortunate enough to meet many very different people, so that's where I get my stories from and frankly it's through those encounters that has shaped me to how I am now. We'll find out.. :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Food, stories, a little bit of nuttiness.
