As I get quite many requests from travelers looking for a host in Lisbon, here's some IMPORTANT INFO: I live in the REGION OF LISBON, NOT IN THE CITY OF LISBON. Mafra is a small historical town (with a pretty amazing 18th century palace) situated about 35 km north of Lisbon, and some 8 km from Ericeira, a popular surfing destination. As our house is just outside the town, you'll need a car to get around, unless you really like walking :)

I'm Joanna, and I'm a freelance translator. I'm Polish and I live in Mafra, Portugal, with my Portuguese husband and our 5 year-old son André. We're easygoing, open-minded, and try to enjoy life's simple pleasures.

Having lived most of our lives in big cities, we moved to a smaller town two years ago where we can have a vegetable garden, and enjoy the peace it offers.
