I'm a Scottish lass who's been living in Brazil for the last 6 months. I worked in the water industry in Scotland/the Netherlands for about 6 years but the pandemic pushed me (or gave me the push I needed!) to try something else! So ever since I have been teaching online. At the moment I am really enjoying expanding my knowledge about my own language, and learning Portuguese while here in Brazil.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm really excited about exploring some new places in Europe this summer. I have not travelled in Europe much since before the pandemic, which seems like a different lifetime to be honest. After reading through several profiles on CS I am really excited to meet new people and discover places through those people. I believe getting to know a place with the locals gives you such a different perspective and experience, and that's why CS really excites me.

Interests

I love playing the piano, singing, singing in a group (I miss it a lot!). I would really like to grow my confidence to be able to perform one day.

Here in Brazil I like to try surfing, go bouldering and go running on the beautiful beaches here. I love hiking in the beautiful Scottish mountains

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I cycled from the north of Belgium to the French Alps! -- I would love to be able to do a big challenge like that again

Teach, Learn, Share

I love learning things from others, particularly about their culture and customs. I am learning Portuguese and really enjoy doing "tandem" conversations to practice and help the other person out with English too.

Although I am a music and English teacher there is still much to learn!-- I started learning the guitar, and really like to play piano/keyboard or sing with others playing.

I'm very happy to share what I can with others-- about Scotland, about music, about English or anything else I can share :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

A nice dinner or two I hope :) I enjoy getting to know people and think over food is a great way to do that. I keep places I stay as tidy and clean as I can too.
