Hi, I’m Joanne! I’m a Filipina and I used to be based in South America. It’s my dream to be a multilingual traveling teacher and that was one reason behind the move to thousands of kilometers away from home. I’ll be starting a new chapter in Europe soon as I got accepted to an exciting master’s program in Madrid. Really stoked to make new friends and create more memories through Couchsurfing!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love almost anything pop--folk pop, indie pop, techno pop, and dance pop!!! Any song with a good beat or melody is a 👌 I love the karaoke too (a true Filipina) and I play the ukulele. I would have loved to see Queen live, but now I could look forward to MIKA performing! Probably listening to Babasonicos sing Cómo Eran Las Cosas, as well as Natiruts probably!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Moving to the other side of the world is one of my biggest leaps of faith 🤣, but a few of my best memories are hitchhiking the Carretera Austral in Chile solo, and reaching 17m underwater in my freediving training.

I'm greatly into languages at the moment and hopefully could share with you a thing or two with my intermediate Spanish! It's also not every day that you get to meet backpacking Filipinos so I'd be happy to share with you our culture. I like learning in the kitchen as well!
