Overview
About Me
I've just returned from 7 years living in Australia and looking for somewhere to live and work in York. I've traveled a wee bit around a few countries and prior to moving to Australia I lived in London and Spain, but I actually grew up near Newcastle in the UK. I've only been in York for a few days and I've fallen in love with the place already!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've traveled a wee bit of Europe, India, Australia and Asia, and I have been lucky enough to make some life long friends through couch surfing. It's a great way to get to know a new place quickly, make friends and immerse in the local culture/lifestyle.
Interests
Live comedy, music, festivals, reading, camping and travel (obviously).
Nutrition and fitness, gym, boxing, running, cycling, abseiling, rock climbing and obstacle courses. I'm not great at these things but I like giving it a go.
Social justice, human rights, community events and volunteering.

Music, Movies, and Books
Love/like a heap of music, too much to mention here but especially live music. Mostly I enjoy music that impacts on the mood I feel on any given day.
Music makes me happy. So does singing. Unfortunately, my singing does not make other people happy. Shame.
I love going to the cinema. I feel I should write here here that I like arty, unusual, sophisticated films but that would be lying. I like fantasy films where I can completely imagine being in another place for a couple of hours (think Never Ending Story style)
Any books by Roald Dahl or Enid Blyton. I think I really want to be a kid again.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Travelled alone (not a big deal now but only because it was no where near as scary as I thought it would be)
Snorkeled with sharks (baby one's but hey, I'm a bit scared of snorkeling!)
Took a public speaking course - which is apparently the number one fear of us humans - even above dying! (Still not brilliant at public speaking btw)
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach - I facilitate workshops in my job and have bounds of patience when teaching new staff the in's and out's of human services, though I am not sure this is something valuable on couch surfing. If you are interested in social justice and what we can each do about it in our own small way that really will make a difference to another person, then I'm your girl.
Learn - I learn something from every single person I meet. About their story, their life, their culture, the way they see the world, the skills they have, their ideas for the future, their dreams and their jokes - and I love learning about it all.
Share - a cup of tea, a story or two, silence, a simple kind gesture, a good old belly laugh, an understanding, or all of the above.
