About Me

Hellooooo everyone! :)

I would describe myself as a free-spirited, goofy, fun-loving sort of girl who loves meeting new people, especially those with weird and wonderful characters. I absolutely love adventures and new cultures and generally just soaking up experiences and making my life story as colourful as possible.

I am a Scottish girl who graduated from my undergrad in Psychology 6 months ago. However I feel so much more at home on this side of the globe so have been spending time out here to figure out if I want to be here forever. Just doing a bunch of volunteering and work experience in the mental health field and soaking up ozzie life, with the intention of applying for a Masters in Clinical Psychology. Although I've also been considering Art Therapy so I am looking forward to exploring the art culture in Melbourne and hopefully doing some workshops. Ultimately I am passionate about helping those battling against mental illness and would love to do so here in Oz as its a fab country filled with fab people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Having travelled quite a bit before, including Australia a couple of years ago, I have done the hostel thing and so I am on a slightly different page this time. Although I am still eager to meet people from all walks of life, ideally I want to get to know locals so I can get a real sense of ozzie life and make lasting connections and friends so that the move away from my family and friends in Scotland won't be so daunting.

Interests

Sport has always been a pretty big interest of mine. In the past I have played a lot of field hockey at various levels, but love most sports and always keen to give anything a try. I've noticed touch rugby to be pretty big over here so might look into joining a social team for fun. I also love the ocean, and some of my most incredible life experiences have involved open water diving. I used to do a lot of painting and its something I would love to get back into. I also enjoy going for a good old groove at festivals and house parties etc. Ultimately, I am always down for adventures and fun!

Music, Movies, and Books

I have to admit my movie education is pretty shocking but love when people enlighten me!
As for music, I actually love a real mix depending on my mood. But currently a big fan of Client Liaison, Flume, Tourist, Rufus, The xx, Matt Corby, Bon Iver, Tame Impala, Mumford and Sons, Empire of the Sun to name a few and then there is the obvious classic oldies like the Rolling Stones.
As for books, I am so bad for finishing them if they don't grab me but love getting suggestions of good books that I can get stuck into. The Book Thief and The Rosie Project have to be up there on my list of favourites, but the one that has probably stuck with me most is The Power of Now.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hmmmm it would probably have to be swimming in the ocean with over 80 wild dolphins, oh or diving with sharks!

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a huge believer that we can all learn so much from one another, so ye I love it when people share new things with me!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I like to think I am a bubbly girl with a lot to contribute so I promise to bring fun and beer! I of course would help out around the house and would love to cook for you (it doesn't have to be haggis..).
