About Me

Hi, I am Joany, just finish working on my nonprofit startup in Nairobi, Kenya, now I am at Austin to further my economics study. I have lived in the states for a year and then Kenya for a year, and I am an avid solo backpacker.

I am a little nerdy sometimes, love digging into behavioral economics, international development and now I am learning data science. Huge fan of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. series and sitcoms. Love intellectual and sincere conversations. Reading, jazz music, backpacking, chocolate.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I had my first CS experience while visiting Egypt, and it was simply amazing! Not only I get to meet different great people as I wouldn't have in other ways, and also we had great time talking, traveling together. I want to continue my amazing journey in CS and create more. I want to share my experience, learn new things, have amazing adventures or great time and try my best to bring something positive to others, even just for a second. So here I am in Couchsurfing :)

Currently I am back to campus life, so unfortunately I can't host anyone. However, I would love to help you do pre-trip research, answer your questions as I could and meet up to show you around.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Jazz, music with good beats, piano and violin background, I don't have one specific love coz there are so many!
Movies: Same, movies really depend on when and where you are, I guess my only no is to horrors and some thrillers.
Books: Sociology, Economics, some novels, I am fascinated by all books with new things to learn.
