About Me

João and Madalena met 4 years ago and have been inseparable ever since. Some claim it was love at first wink. The truth is that Madalena wants to marry João, and it's no surprise because he's awesome! João is very friendly, very open-minded, he loves music (specially jazz, rock and psytrance) and music festivals and has been playing drums for a few years. He's trying to succeed in the music scene, but his bands rarely leave the rehearsing room because they're too stoned (just kidding, check this one to believe me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lp2oOl7180 João is the one playing the melodica) He's also a nature guy, who wishes to travel the globe and hopes to stay at least a year in India. He's also fascinated with science including the type that happens when alcohol molecules reach his bloodstream.

The reason they're not yet married is because João is very picky and although Madalena is absolutely gorgeous, amazingly smart, sugar sweet and has a mean sense of humor, João still thinks that they should travel more together, to be sure if she is the one. Madalena grew up in São Miguel, the main island of the Açores archipelago. That alone says that she's incredible. Her favorite things include swimming, writing, dancing, get drunk with friends, her family (not drunk with her family, but let's not say that it doesn't happen nor it's boring), traveling, meeting new people and House of Cards. She can also talk about anything and she has the loudest and most contagious laugh.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For us traveling is the best way of expanding our minds. We want to explore other cultures, try food everywhere, get to know the local places where travelers hardly go, places that stayed unnoticed even with the massive information share that's currently happening in the internet. We want to be the best listeners whenever we meet a person who's background is totally different from ours, but also be the most excited people in the room when we find someone with the same tastes or with similar experiences to share.

We decided to create a CS profile about one year ago, before we started our Interrail trip together. We had 5 CS experiences that month and we have to say that all of them were 10/10. Couchsurfing has contributed so much to our traveling experiences, allowing us to know our destinations in such a better way and also meet incredible people along the way. Ultimately, it has helped shaping ourselves into more aware, conscious, and more generous people.
