About Me
Hello CCS community!
I'm Joao, from Portugal (22), traveling with my girlfriend Alicia (21) from Belgium!
I´m finishing my masters in Architecture and Alicia is about to be a graduate in Sociology.
We are very curious creatures and hooked on making new friends from all over the world. The past year we have been living in Budapest and it has been a quite a ride. Our friends are mostly international, guess it´s normal since we´re foreigners here but that´s why we are having such a great year.
We believe getting to know different cultures is the best way to open your mind and here we are to keep pushing it :D
Favorite way of traveling is getting to know new cities slowly, taking in the atmosphere the place has to teach us. Love chances and random encounters, so we tend to keep our plans open and welcoming for surprises.
I had a very short previous experience hosting in my flat in Porto a few years ago, and ever since, unfortunately, I was unable to do so again. This time we are looking for interesting and kind (kind is important :D) hosts to help us having the best trip possible!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We are now living in Budapeste and planning to see more of the Europe around us. Since we´re both from the very western part (and visited most of it), we cant tell you enough how exciting it is to finally be able to see so many countries (since forever in our to-see list) such as Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Check Republic, Poland, and so on.
Our plan is to start by visiting Warsaw, come back to Budapeste for a few days to take care of one last exam, and then head on for two itinerary: Bratislava-Vienna-Prague and Zagreb - Ljubljana - Sarajevo - Belgrade. In the in-between we wanted to check out nice places for nature lovers like ourselves. If you have any recommendation please feel free to message me!
After all the fun, we will finally see each other´s home countries :D
Interests
Architecture sigh-seeing, always want to check out the pearls of each place.
In the free-time, making things happening with my friends, from installations to collage, or even just making parties and concerts back in porto. We spend most of out time coming up with ideas that really are nothing but nonsense and never leave the page, but hey some times they do! Always brainstorm.
Good conversation, can be about politics, about plans, or about what is the best kind of pasta.

Music, Movies, and Books
Most of the classics, dostoievsky, camus, kundera, joyce, nabokov.
Really into experimental music, psychedelic rock, jazz, some rap. But can listen to pretty much everything, mood knows best.
My favorite movie must be "Bronson". No, "The dreamers". Meh, maybe something that made me laugh really hard but can´t remember the title.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Made a flag with coloreds toilet papers and rolled it down the bridge
Teach, Learn, Share
None of us is the best cook you´ll ever meet, (except for pastries and sushi, alicia is great!) but we´re good at making up new stuff. Ever heard about my world-famous vegetarian carbonara? Saved us a bunch!
As of for languages, will be there to teach you any nonsense phrase you always wanted to know how to say in portuguese :P Alright, probably french. I´ll leave it to Alicia, my french is only great after a couple of beers.
Sharing beer and stories is the best! We want to buy you one and hear yours! :)
