About Me
Hello! I am Jodie (she/her), a traveler from small-town California.
A bit about me:
I am an avid learner. I have a great interest in any languages I can learn & practice, as well as any other skills that I haven’t discovered yet! Another big part of traveling for me is exploration. I want to experience as many new things as possible: cultures, foods, lifestyles, arts, climates, everything--in as many different places as I can. I want to expand my comfort zone and grow as a person through experiencing the world.
I grew up in a small town in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. I was raised in the outdoors; hiking, kayaking and paddleboarding, backpacking and camping, and skiing in the wintertime. I am very capable of "roughing it," and I have no need for a fancy lifestyle.
I am a social introvert, but I still deeply enjoy connecting with other humans in a meaningful way. Personality-wise, I am quiet but aware and always open to good conversation.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am traveling wherever the road takes me with only a backpack. I am so grateful to have discovered this resource—in addition to accommodation, Couchsurfing is also a wonderful opportunity to meet people and share time & stories together.
I will mention here, though, that I am asexual & unavailable. If we are getting on really well, it is because I have taken a *platonic* liking to you. Please don’t misread that & make a move, for both of our sakes.
Interests
I love hiking, walks, reading and writing, exploration in general; I am also a big nerd and play a lot of Dungeons and Dragons. I am always happy to bond with people over Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and all other fantasy media out there!

Music, Movies, and Books
Pre-2000s music (60s, 70s, 80s), Broadway Musical soundtracks, electroswing and dance music, instrumental music (ex: Yanni); Fantasy Movies, as well as Horror Movies (predominantly); & fantasy books: Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, etc.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Many people find it interesting that I’ve been to Burning Man! My first time I was 15 — I went with my (very cool) mom, & I went again at 17. It was truly one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in my life. I cannot wait to return.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am always willing to teach/share any skills a host might have an interest in; I speak English & would be happy to lend a hand, if a host was trying to learn.
I am always on a mission to improve my language abilities. I know enough Spanish to get by in Mexico, but my goal is to be fully bilingual—& hopefully learn more languages from there.
I know a little piano, but would love to improve my skills. I love being creative in any way that I can; learning new art, dance, and music forms is a huge drive for me. Any new information I discover along the way is always a gift—curiosity is an excellent incentive for exploration.
I love hearing stories from other people, and also simply engaging in meaningful conversation. A conversation is a wonderful thing to share with a person, in my opinion.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am always happy to help out around the house—washing dishes, keeping areas tidy, and always cleaning up after myself. I’m always willing to lend a helping hand. I am also happy to play games or just relax with hosts; though I am an introvert, I greatly enjoy getting to know people through talking to them, & I love interesting conversation.
