About Me

Hi, I'm Jodie - a 27 year old Brit from South East England.

I've just graduated from my undergraduate degree in photography this year and am having a bit of a late 20's crisis in the sense that I have no idea what I am doing with my life! Travel is my main passion and I've been lucky to travel to 27 countries so far. It's also what I do for a living - just over a year ago I started a small e-commerce business making my own line of travel products. It is a location independent company which means I can live anywhere, so I thought I'd take advantage of it and live everywhere!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm setting off on my 5th long term trip as a solo woman from January onwards. Previously I have done a lot of hostel-hopping and this trip I really want to try something different so I am trying to rely largely on couchsurfing opportunities and work exchange as a chance to try a different kind of travel.

On my last trip (touring Morocco this summer) I met a guy who had couchsurfed almost every night of his whole trip and thought it would be interesting to test the water!

I feel like my life in England makes me a bit of a hermit stuck tinkering away in doors all day without human interaction and I'm interested to try and break out of the cycle. I'm quite an adventurous person, but I am also naturally insular, so I'd really like to learn to be more of a people person and I'm hoping couchsurfing would help me explore this. It's amazing the kindness and openness of people on this site. I think I could learn a lot from the experience.

Interests

I love travel and everything associated. I used to be a bit of a party animal but have calmed own over the last year or two although I do still enjoy going out, just not 5 nights a week anymore!

In my spare time at home I read, watch movies, stuff my face, nerd on the internet, hang out with friends and all your usual life habits.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really love Lord of The Rings / The Hobbit movies.

My fave bands of all time are Tool and Pink Floyd.

I love to read non-fiction and like going on and on about the wonders of the Kindle. I mostly read stuff about feminism, lifestyle design and travel.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Toured Western Australia as a travelling bikini barmaid - a dying tradition in the Australian mining towns. The job let me visit a lot of bizarre off the grid places including the 10th biggest Gold mine in the world which is 9 hours east of Perth in the actual middle of nowhere.

One for the grand kids!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd be interested to learn some Spanish as I will be travelling to Central America. I am also always interested to try new cocktails and hear travel stories.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a bit of an internet nerd. If you are interested in e-commerce (eBay, Amazon etc), small start ups or creating a location independent business I can probably give some advice and suggestions on further reading. I also like to think I'm pretty creative so I like doing stuff like baking, cooking etc.

I'm happy to do my own thing or hang out if you have the time. I wouldn't want anyone to feel obligated to entertain me! I'm quite an independent person so I am always happy left to my own devices when need be.
